What about starting him at the 3? Q.Rich can play the 2 - and we keep the remaining lineup (Curry, Frye, Marbury) with Crawford, Lee, N.Rob off the bench? KMart is only about 6'8 and he is quick and can probably defend most 3's as well as any of the other knicks could. His rebounding and post game might improve at the 3 spot, as he usually goes up against bigger 4s? We are supposedly a running team now, and I think he would give other 3's a problem posting and running the floor. Again, this is "if" he gets traded to us for Francis, etc What do you guys think?

Pre Microfracture, yes, but now, he's probably one of the top 10 defensive liabilities in the NBA b/c of the Knee problems. Toughness is nice, but it can only take you so far.

For me it would have to be Francis AND Q or Craw, and if it's Q, because of his shorter contract, then I want a protected pick coming this way. I may just want a second rounder regardless.

I kinda want to keep Q and Crawfish around and see how they can build this coming season. I'm gonna give Q the injury excuse, and the deaths in his family pass. It was tough for him and he played through it. As for Craw, he said he wants to get bigger this Summer, so lets see if he does and if he can improve his defense. I think, pretty much, his offense is on track and where it should be. Besides some better decision making, I think his O is fine.

I just can't stand seeing Marbury and Francis play together though. I saw them a few games in person last season, and it was ugly. The Knicks played best with Craw and Nate, at the end.

QRich's injury is his back. It's only gonna get worse. Plus, he's shooter who can't shoot (career 39%). I'd move him ASAP, if I could.

I'd like to send Francis to Denver for Kenyon Martin;

Then trade Mo Taylor's expiring contract, Cash and a fut pick to Seattle for Rashard Lewis.

Curry/Frye/James
Martin/Lee
Lewis/Balkman
Crawford/Richardson/Collins
Marbury/Robinson

If Seattle begins a fire-sale, i would love to get a hold of Lewis. But I think Seattle could do alot better than Mo Taylor and a pick for Lewis.

Microfracture surgery really scares me. I also think that Martin, despite his bravado, is undersized and has benefitted greatly from the point guards that he plays with. Martin went from Kidd to Miller. While Kidd isn't Miller the similarities are there and several years ago Miller led the league in assists. I believe Kidd outrebounded Martin at least one of the years they were together. I like Kiki as a gm and I think he had a vision of combining Miller and Martin and having the same success that the Nets had.

Do you guys think a 3 way deal like this could make sense for all involved?

NY gets: (PF)Kenyon Martin (SF)Darius Miles

Portland gets: (PG)Andre Miller (sf)Eduardo Najera (pf)David Lee &
(pf)Maurice Taylor -Expiring Contract

Denver gets: (PG)Steve Francis (PF) Zach Randolph
(c)Ha Seung-Jin, Cash Considerations via NYK

Curry/James
Martin/Frye/Rose
Miles/Balkman
Richardson/Crawford/Collins
Marbury/Robinson

Portland--
Pryzbilla/Aldridge
Lafrentz/Lee/Taylor/Skinner
Outlaw/Najera/Webster
Dixon/Roy
Miller/Jack/Dickau

Denver--
Camby/Nene/Ha Seung-Jin
Randolph
Anthony/Kleiza/Hodge
Patterson/J.R.Smith
Francis/Boykins

I don't want kmart unless they feel he can start at the 3. Frye deserves to start at the PF. The only reason i would want Frye coming off the bench is if we got a PF that was significantly better. Kmart is not. I would do a francis for miles deal. I think it would benefit both teams and i think miles would balance out our roster. If we can't find a deal to get a quality SF tho i think we're best off keeping Francis.

Line-up with miles could be:

C Curry/James
PF Frye/Lee/M Rose/Taylor
SF Miles/Balkman/J Rose
SG Richardson/Crawford
PG Marbury/Robinson/Collins

A Miles for Francis trade makes some sense for the Knicks, although the salaries don't appear to match so other players might have to be included. I don't want K-Mart. It is going to take at least another year for him to fully recover from knee surgery. Additionally, he is owed too much money and has too many years left on his contract. If we want any hope of keeping Fyre, Lee, and Robinson in three years after their rookie contracts expire, we have to avoid contracts like K-Mart's.

Thats a very balanced lineup. Say what you want about Miles, but he fills a gaping hole in our lineup. He's a good defender from the wing, rebounds it okay for a Sf, and even blocks some shots. He gives the front court the lenght and the defense it needs if Frye and Curry are going to start together.

Miles and Skinner for Francis. Problem solved.

definitely would NOT include Craw in any deal for KMart... he's 1 of the more promising players we have... he showed some good things last season... i think he's on the cusp of growing into a player that can actually lead a team... & he's clutch, something some other guards on this team aren't.
