The Knicks never have had interest either in Trevor Ariza.

Thomas told The Post in Las Vegas that when Ariza's agent called him to see if there was interest, Thomas informed him that he had no place to put Ariza because of the drafting of Renaldo Balkman.

IMO Trev is no more than an LLE player. And, HE called the Knicks about returning. I think signing Ariza instead of drafting Balkman and then using that 20 pick on a guy like Ager (a true 2), or Marcus, or whoever would have been a much more prudent move on Isiah's part.

That's a shame. Ariza would be a nice fit on this team.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

How so???? Are you saying that during draft night Isiah should have know Ariza would want to comeback????? Kind of a reach if you ask me.

That's like saying Isiah should have know Butler was worth 2.3 million to the spurs and signed him for 2million and traded him before they offered him a contract......... you work with what you have and what you want.

Larry is a bodysnatcher.

no way Isiah - who was forced to deal Trev-Mac - wouldn't want to re-sign him.

In fairness to Isiah, nothing that occurred before the draft suggested that Ariza would be available at this time. The Orlando Magic indicated that they intended to keep him, and given the fact that NY traded him and Larry bashed him, it would seem unlikely that he would want to come back to NY. Although it now looks like he would like to return, Isiah could not have known that. Moreover, I think Balkman can become a better player than Ariza. He already has a more advance understanding of where to be on the court and has a better handle and passing ability. The things he lacks are the same things Ariza lacks, i.e. a jump shot and go to moves.

Ariza is also a restricted free agent. His agent called and asked if the Knicks would overpay like they did for JJ. Ariza is still a terrific athlete, though he still doesn't have a jumpshot. We already have Balkman without a jumpshot. They are very similar players. I would take Ariza back if we could clear somebody like Malik off the roster. He doesn't have a jumpshot either.

i have a feeling Balkman's going to be a better player than Ariza for this team... this is pretty irrelevant... missing out on Trevor Ariza isn't going to make me lose any sleep either way... i'm more upset they let Jackie B go for nothing to be honest, & would rather they re-sign Qyntel Woods than bring Ariza back w/our current roster.

I'd love to sign Ariza for the LLE or something to that extent...it would atleast keep my Ariza jersey from going to waste. At this point though, I just assume play Lee and Balkman at the 3 with Jalen or Q filling in the gaps.
If we were to sign another 3 for cheap, how bout one of those undrafted 3's BRIGGS has been talking about? I don't exactly watch college enough to know them first hand, but BRIGGS has given me reason to trust his scouting.

The Trevor Ariza expriment is over and done with. He's not good enough all-around to start and he's not going to be signed to be stuck at the end of the bench. No thanks Trevor.

Much better shot than Balkman has of becoming the next Sprewell.

Solace, since we have our own versions of Jason Kidd, Shaq and Duncan (Marbury, Curry and Frye) then Balkman doesn't even need to be Sprewell. He's better off being as good as Bernard King.
