I know you guys are all plugged in already, but didn't see it posted and figured it was a slow day for knick news.

Channing Frye is traveling with fellow NBA stars Andre Iguodala and Cuttino Mobley to Taipei, Taiwan (July 13 through 19) then to Manila, Philippines (19th to the 22nd) as part of the NBA Madness Tour. Frye, Iguodala and Mobley are spokesmen for the Tour, which also includes the Spurs Silver Dancers and the Atlanta Hawks mascot, and will be part of the NBA Madness Celebrity Jam, a unique event that combines sports, music and entertainment. While the players are there, they will meet kids, conduct basketball clinics and act as goodwill ambassadors for the NBA. Through NBA Cares, the NBA Madness Celebrity Jam will benefit Special Olympics Philippines and an organization called the Bright Child. Frye is checking in from time to time to share a diary of his travels with fans on NYKnicks.com:

Monday, July 17:
Well, it's been a really interesting trip so far. We've gone down to the southern tip of Taiwan to go to the beach. It was a sticky six-and-a-half hour drive down here. Our last days in Taipei, Taiwan was great. We had a celebrity basketball game. My college teammate and best friend Andre Iguodala stole the show with all his dunks - I guess they don't appreciate a good right hand jump hook when they see it (joking). Well, I'll have a whole bunch of pictures for everyone when I get back. And, oh yeah, we went to an outdoor market and a Buddhist temple. So thanks for reading my diary. This is Cfry signing off until tomorrow when I'll have more stories for everyone!

Friday, July 14:
Today, we went to a Hannspree factory. It was funny - the people over here in Taiwan love basketball and NBA players. The workers were going nuts. Then we went to this place called the UMC where children (even needy children) get a chance to play basketball and other sports in a safe environment. Tonight we'll have a get together with the managers of Hannspree, the LCD company which helped sponsor this whole trip. Today was a lot of fun and it helped me realize that even though we never hear about it, we not only entertain, but influence and inspire kids to fulfill their dreams.

Nice jumper, huh? Frye in the celebrity basketball game in Taipei, Taiwan.

Nice, CFrye in Taiwan!! My wife is from Taiwan, and it is true they do love B-Ball. Everywhere you go there are basketball courts, including a HUGE outdoor set of courts near Taiwan University that has lights for everyone to play at night. Taipei is a great city too, especially at night when everyone is shopping at department and clothing stores at 10:30 at night...including book stores! The night life is good also and of course, eating is a big deal. I wonder if he went to any of the night markets and tried the food there. There is some stuff that Western stomachs might find strange, but a lot that is really good.

Interesting that the NBA cordinated he, Mobley and Igodala to go to Taiwan when the William Jones tournament is on (a big basketball tournament with national teams that happens every year). Usually the US fields a team of college players, men and women, but it seems that the US only sent women this time around. Karl Malone actually played in it when he was in college.

I found an article about Frye's visit as well:

When asked about his reception in Taiwan, Knicks forward Frye said, "It's just crazy, man. The fans are really into the game. The love basketball, and they love the NBA. I like it here in Taiwan. People are very friendly..... I honestly did not know if people know me so well outside of New York. Getting such enthusiastic response in Taiwan is a big surprise for me."
