Here is the worst part. We could've [a word to frequently used with da Knicks}HAD Robinson for Sprewell and never had this mess. I mean before the season with Mcdyess --doesnt it make sense to add a small forward who shoots near 50% and averages 22-24 a game+rebounds? and they kick in a 7 footer who wouldve been good for us just to clog the middle?
What wouldve been wrong with C-Johnson 7-0 260 PF-Mcdyess 6-9 250 SF Robinson 6-7 235 SG Houston 6-6 210 PG Ward 6-2 190 Now THAT wouldve been a club that would win 50+ games. To bad Mcdyess's knees were ready to buckle at any moment and we didn't execute the trade.
Now there is good chance that Mcdyess will never play again or atleast the Dice you have seen play. We are stuck with this glorious Sprewell situation. We could've had Robinson and somehow-someway we will end up with Shawn Bradley. When Layden was given the olive branch with that Robinson deal he dropped it. Please someone tell me-even if Robinson had a bit of trouble--where else were we going to get a player who averages 22 pts 6 bounds and 4 assits while shooting 47%? What kind of better Sprewell deal was out there?

but talking realistically, if we could have had any of those players, we would have. the fact is that while we may have proposed a deal, the other team wanted more and so it fell through.

I agree, Briggs. In one swoop, they would have had been taller at Center and SF---with shot-blocking, rebounding, and scoring to boot. I always liked a E.Johnson-type player. Also, Robinson is having a monster season in points and rebounds right now.
I disagree, Jaydh. The Robinson/Johnson-for-Sprewell deal was actually killed by the Knicks---it wouldn't have cost the Knicks more. But Layden didn't want Robinson's baggage at the time. He kind of likes people of prayer and no passion. I think he thinks he's building a team of religious missionaries, instead of NBA players. Watch Bradley become the next Knick.

First of all, this is GAME 3 of the season, Robinson is hardly a lock for all star this year. Plus we have yet to see spree debut on the court so I would stop all the doom and gloom that has been posted on this board over the past 2 weeks. Yes the team is in trouble, we have 3 decent players and with the addition of Nailon maybe 4. On the bright side, Ward is showing he is capable at the PG position. Having Thomas as our 5 is the real problem. Its not getting Big Dog and replacing spree. If Dyess was healthy this team would be 3-0.

KT has put up huge #s as our starting 5, while opposing centers have done nothing. Having KT as our starting 5 has been a great benefit for us these past 3 games. KT and Houston thru 3 qts are our only bright spots right now.

I am not saying he is a weak player, I am saying it is a problem because if he gets in foul trouble or gets tired, his backup is Travis. If we had a real 5 and thomas at th 4, or at least a more solid backup for him at the 5 then he wouldnt be a problem. Plus his lack of height is definitely an issue - it doesnt matter if he is playing well - it is hurting us.

I'm not sure what ur saying. Travis sucks. Agreed. (Hopefully Doleac makes a quick recovery.) KT is playing well. Big or small, it doesn't matter, if you can put up numbers like he has these last three games. If KT was 6'11" and put up the same numbers, would that really matter? No, because he'd be putting up the same numbers.
Well, I WOULD rather have KT/Doleac starting than Othella/KT - Kurt still getting his numbers, but maybe the taller pair gets more rebounds and stops more layups in the fourth q...?
Of course, I'd really rather have KT/Kandi, but that's another thread altogether...

Gotta agree here.. and if KT gets some down time during the game, maybe the 4th quarter would go to the Knicks more often.
