I've not posted in a while since I got ganged up on for my enthusiasm, but while I was a way, I noticed the knicks playing together and basically dominating summer league and without Channing to boot.

The one game they lost was when marbury was there (lol)

also, this is basically the same squad as last year, so IMHO Herb Williams is out of here like last year's slow it down offense.

I mean, the game we lost the franchise center (the real franchise center) went down with an injury and it was against amare "remind everybody who i am" stoudamire playing.

So, I ask the pessimists to come out and bash me back into oblivion.

Did we just dominate summer league?

I did not get a chance to see any of the games, but by the stats it looks like we did dominate the summer league.

I dunno how this is supposed to mean anything other than that we dominated summere league, but you are right to say that we did dominate it.

Also, I thought that the general concensus of the IT crew was that summer league stats don't matter, hence BRIGGS should not post about other guys that we passed up to draft this guy or that, etc.

Either way, hopefully this is a sign of good things to come this season.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

We did dominate the crappy teams that's for sure... I like aguires coaching way more than herb... Even tho I love herb, he's just not head coach material... I think the only thing it really means is that our young players gained some experience and confidence... Which is def a positive!

Lee played well and showed improvment. Thats a definate positive. Nate learned ZERO PG skills, thats a negative and Frye got abused by a one legged Amare. Those are the only things I was curious to see. The rest is doodoo

I thought summer league didn't matter?

It only matters when the Knicks play good?

Nate once or twice made the right pass...He looked better than I though, and he played mostly at SG...I can't get how Amare took Frye behind the tool shed out of my mind...After the first game, Lee was the only true bright spot.

We learned that Balkman probably isn't a bust.

what intrigued me the most other than Balk was how the new offense looked. It was a joy to watch. I've never seen a Knick team move the ball like that. Got too used to dumping the ball to Pat, H20 & Steph. I don't know how they're going to get francis & curry to buy into it since both are terrible passers but I sure hope they get it!

I think the answer is yes.

And nate show way more point guard skills then this time last season or during, so that is good.

More drama please.

1- Frye also has a season ending leg injury last year. I guess he was one legged out there too.

2- I didn't see Lee handle Amare any better. Lee wouldn't man up and Amare just sank easy jumpshots over him all day. I did however see Lee get stuffed on his way to basket about 10 times this summer league though. By a bunch of nobodies at that. There's no way he can play inside against NBA-caliber PFs IMO, let alone draw them outside and sink jumpers. I love Lee, but put him at the 3 where he actually has an advantage.

3- As mentioned by Gus and Clyde, Nate seemed to get better as the summer league progressed. He had a ton of great looks against Washington today and for the summer league, as his minutes went down, his assists progressively went up (3, 3, 4, 5, 8).

I watched every game

Nate - I'm amazed by this kid. He broke his nose and then plays the next game, still driving the ball and without a mask. He looked like he was tring to be Steph in the Suns game and took a step back, but he was the best player on the floor every other game.

Lee - Still too inconsistent, he makes on great pass or drop shot and follows it up by getting stuffed. Lee's high end is becoming a white Anthony Mason. His foul shooting is not just bad, he's not even close.

Frye - Sorry to see him get hurt. I like him at the 5 spot. He opens up the floor and makes the team faster. With the triangle offense, Frye will end up open at the elbow like Longley, Grant and Wennington always did. I don't see how Curry can take advantage of being wide open at the foul line.

Balkman - What a relief... This guy is taking the rebounds and is running before the ball touches his finger tips. So fast. Nate, Lee and B-Man were blowing teams away with their speed and passing. He reminds me of a little more physical RJ when he came up. This guy will make everything that Isiah wants to do on offense this year possible.

Collins - I see the defense, I respect the defense... but this guy is a ways off. On the offensive end he looks just like Allan Houston... until the ball clangs off the rim.

Udoka - This guy's 15 minutes are over. He's a poor man's Collins.

Miller - Played very well, should be a great Euro player. No future in the NBA.

Isiah's "quick" Offense - Wow... it looks like we have a plan out there, and that is saying something after last year. At one point he was being interviewed while the Knicks scrubs were on offense. He verbally diagramed the play while they were running it, explained everything before it happened, all the way to an easy lay-up for the knicks. Pretty impressive. The UCLA cuts, Triangle and the full court offense looked like they were running great.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Great rundown JohnWallace, I agree with your whole post until you hit the offense. I agree the offense looks great but I want to see Isiah get Steph/Francis/Curry/Frye to play defense. These guys are going to be playing significant minutes this year and the Knicks are not going to go ANYWHERE unless they play defense. Thats what I'm waiting for, things are looking good so far but I have to see these guys play defense before I'm a believer.

IT will make play defense. I'd bet on that.

There were points last year when the young players looked much better than the vets. I could see that happening this year too if the vets can't execute on both ends. I really feel like the season depends on how well conditioned Curry is when camp starts and how well Q can shoot the rock from the outside. Those are two things that IT will have the least control over as coach.

FWIW, we went 4-1.

Last year we went.... 4-1.

And can someone remind me why we signed Udoka? I'd rather have Russell, Miller, Woods, or any number of guys other than him.

If anything, it probably says we have one of the best rookie cores in the league. A promising thing and if the vets can get it together, along with our rooks, anything can happen. Let's not forget, Curry didn't even play in the summer league! What does that tell ya?
I'll never trust this' team again.

That was just simply cold blooded, but I loved every word of it! If that's not an omen, then I don't know what is!
