According to an agent Herb Rudoy, the Spurs made an offfer to Jackie B. this morning, no financial details revealed yet. I think we might lose Butler and I'd hate to see him go but you gotta do what you gotta do!!

San Antonio Express-News - The Spurs moved quickly when the NBA’s free-agent signing period began Wednesday, signing point guard Jacque Vaughn and extending offer sheets to centers Francisco Elson and Jackie Butler.

Elson and Butler are restricted free agents, so Denver and New York have seven days to match the offers. The Knicks have already indicated they want to keep Butler.

The Spurs extended offers to both Elson and Butler in part because they were unable to reach agreement with former second-round pick Robertas Javtokas. Javtokas is preparing to play in Greece, but the Spurs haven’t given up hope they will be able to resume negotiations with him, if needed.

Vaughn, who signed a one-year contract for the league minimum, will compete with Beno Udrih for the backup point-guard job.

I'd hate to lose Butler, but the Knicks have too many untradeable vets and young'ns who need PT.

This is a pretty difficult situation we're in. What if Tons of Fun doesn't show up in shape again this year? We'd really be left without a serviceable back-up center. Or even if Curry and James continue to foul at their normal paces, this would suck. I'd rather waive Mo Taylor then loose JB, come on Zeke...

If it's a reasonable contract, I hope Zeke matches.

I'm excited that the Spurs have extended an offer to Jackie Butler. Their offers are always fiscally responsible. So if we match, we'll know it wasn't the max.

If I'm Isiah I let Butler go. And concentrate on increasing JJ's value so he can dump him off to another team. with Jackie around PT becomes very difficult to manage and this in turn will lead to disgruntled employees which is the last thing we all need.

I think a center rotation of Curry, JJ and Frye will be fine.

If JJ gives 8 points 5 rebounds and a block or two. I Think he would have earned his back up role.

If is the big thing here and JJ eating habits.

yes

I actually like his play also, but probably fell pray to the numbers game with Miller.. He's played nearly 40 minutes in SL yet only grabbed 4 TOTAL rebounds? He reminds me of Doleac, but the lack of rebounding scares me ya know?
