Monday night against Sacramento, Nate Robinson broke his nose in the third quarter moving around a screen.

Dr. Lisa Callahan treated him postgame and surgery will NOT be required. He is expected to play against Detroit Tuesday night and he will be wearing a protective mask for the next two games.

As a reminder, Channing Frye will not play for the remainder of the summer league - as a precaution - due to a sprained right ankle.

For some reason, i feel like Nate Robinson will never help this team become a championship type squad and that he's just a basketball sideshow.

it's weird, but for some reason i get the feeling about Frye personally... he just seems a bit clumsy to me, & his defensive instincts are completely lacking... his perimeter shot is butter, but was very inconsistent at the end of his rookie season... i don't question his work ethic, but the fact he's been a bit injury prone since he's been here doesn't inspire much confidence in me either... just my personal observations of him so far... not saying he's a bust or anything close to it.

That's how I feel about Frye also. My initial impressions about Frye and Nate was that Frye was going to be a very good backup center in this league and Nate was going to be a high energy player off the bench. So far, Frye has been a starter, but if his defensive woes and clumsiness don't get better, at some point, he may find himself in more of a 6th man role. I see Nate being a more talented Earl Boykins.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

i think being around Marbury & Francis has really been a horrible influence for Nate... if we'd had a guy like Brevin Knight or Darrell Armstrong around that he could learn & model his game after (team concept first), then i think he could turn into a really good player in this league... he's got the strength & athleticism to be a good player, but the mentality of a 5 year old, & being around numbskulls like Marbs isn't going to help his development imho.

Very good points. It's like being raised by wolves.

could be. The one thing I am seeing in the 2 summer league games is that Nate is just a scorer and has almost zero PG skills in his body. But to succeed at all long term in this league he HAS to be able to play PG for spurts.

????? Wha????

I thought I clicked the wrong thread after reading the title compared to the posts. Maybe Nate will wear the mask all season, get a little RIP action going.

A championship squad? That's way too much burden to put on one player. All I want from players is maximal effort and making positive things happen on the court. I think Nate and Frye both can do that.

He certainly acts like one. I wish he'd stop that crap.

Yeah, I suppose when you have questionable injuries, the questions start to show up and that's not a good sign. Let's just hope it'a all a thing that is going to happen only once and not be a consistent thing. We're in serious trouble if he does start getting injured. We need that offense.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Being raised by wolves is actually an honorable thing. Being raised by starbury is a disgrace as a basketball player.

I dont understand why people think frye is injury prone. andre berret rammed into his leg going at 100 mph, and then he stepped on someone's foot (which happens to ALOT of nba players), who woudlnt get injured in those circumstances? I mean its not like a marcus camby situation where he just gets injured by any and every little thing.

anyway I dont think nate is a sideshow, I think he can be a very valuable peice on a playoff knick team, becuase he plays harder than anyone else, and has a swagger and brings energy.

Frye is a scorer at the four... he will get bigger and better at the other aspects of his game as he matures. To use baseball terminology ... for a big .. he is a plus plus mid-range shooter whose range should increase.. with great touch around the basket with a variety of post moves. He will garner attention from defenses. We want it all from players sometimes, being fans.. but in the process glaze over what they do really well. Same with Nate.. he can score.. period. We all hope they round out their games.. they have time.
