I'm sorry but I do not see how Collins is going to help this team. He looks lost and scared out onthe court and hasnt even created anything for a teammate. I havent seen him defend like he was said to be able to do. I just dont think he is that good of a player. What can we possibly do with this guy?Sorry Isiah but we could have gotten something else.

If he were to actually play, I guess he could be a nice compliment because he's a 1 on offense and a 2 on defense (due to his size), which might work well with Marbury, Francis and Nate, who all play like 2s on offense and 1s on defense.

On the other hand, the most likely scenario is Collins gets VERY VERY little minutes for the next two years, so we won't really know what we have for a while.

I'm not sure it was the right pick, but I like it better than the Balkman pick.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

It's still early. Frye looked lost in the Summer Leagues last year too. Some just take more time to come around than others. PGs usually take the longest.

it was the 29th pick in the draft. Honestly, maybe we should have gone for a Euro and stashed them for a few years, but IT needs to win now. And if a few guys get injured/traded (anything can happen), we need a solid PG prospect on our roster. Collins was a safe pick.

I saw Collins alot since I went to URI and they played Temple a few times a year. I always liked Collins, never thought he was a lottery talent like some predicted a few years back but I always thought he was solid. He will come around, it takes awhile for PGs to learn the NBA system, it doesn't happen overnight, they have to learn the whole playbook, know where everyone is going to be on the court and learn everyones tendencies.

I hate to use the comparison that every draft outlet used but the Aaron McKie comparison I think is absolutely perfect, I think Collins is an absolute clone of Mckie which is a good thing for the Knicks becuase Mckie is a very solid player, both on offense AND defense where the Knicks need Collins most.

Hey, Charlie Ward look scared and lost his entire first year with the Knicks but he turned out OK. Give it some time.

Good call Martin on the comparison to Frye the same time last year. You're right, it takes time. Frye was compiling fouls like they were going out of style at the beginning of last year's summer league but eventually he came around. Plus, Mardy isn't being asked to run the club (a strength of his), Nate is - he's has been playin' the 2. And when Nate gets a blow, some dude Walker-Russell is in to orchestrate, not Collins.

Collins is so unathletic it's sad. He plays like he has cement shoes on.

and a ball and chain around his ankles.

However I think he can be a good role player in this league at the point.

He's another Aaron Mckie.. good ballhandling skills, can play the 1 for his size and plays defense..

He's not the athletic type but makes that up with his other skills.

he'll be find especially the east is surrounded with premier guards/small forwards

So far he has looked $%!##y. Air balling free throws? Defensively, I haven't graded him yet... I hope he pans out, but we may not have to worry about which player to cut in order to keep Woods and Butler...

Collins needs to cut some fat and get some type of definition to his arms and probably legs to. He deosn't look like a strong player which he needs to be. He should be abusing pgs

yeah but you can usually get what type of player you are getting....nate was spunky and seemed unafraid, lee was a slasher and would put down anything within 10 feet, frye seemed like he had good mechanics, a good feel and could shoot, balkman looks like he wont shoot, and will bound and dunk, whereas mardy collins he hasnt driven to the hoop, hasnt created any passes, hasnt shot well, hasnt defended well and hasnt hustled, he looks lost and unathletic.
