Say that offseason Larry Brown was available. And he became the knicks head coach.

He would have. Mutombo/Doleac, Dice/KT/Spoon/Sweetney/Harrington/Lampe, KVH, Houston/Anderson, Ward/Eisley/Williams(rights to Milos)

Do you think we would be a contender right now 3yrs later?

That was a better team for LB than the one we had last year.

I still wish we never made the crawford trade and just let the contracts expire, you want to bring eddy curry and not trade kurt thomas i'm alright with having marbury and deke as the backup center, that team would have been much better for Larry, although Frye would have never played....

Marbury/Williams (strange he is out of the league he looked like he found a home late in the playoffs)
?
Woods/Ariza/Lee
Thomas/AD/Frye
Curry/Mutumbo

In retrospect having Thomas with Frye out there at the same time would be great for penetration, might have been interest had Isiah not rushed like he does with all his moves what type of team we would have had, and Larry would have been a little more useful......

There was talk on ESPN with the lack of shooters in the NBA, they thought Houston may be wanted by a few teams after the season.....

Dolan was in love with Chaney. Every problem flows from him.

As bad as Isiah has been to this point, the Camby/Nene (Amare?) trade for McDyess hurt this team more than any other transaction.

For all the follies of Layden and Thomas, the one constant has been Dolan. The Spreewell trade, the Camby trade, constantly giving Chaney contract extensions, giving Houston a $100 million, the desire and financial need to bring in Marbury. All of that stems from Dolan.

McDyess trade was the worst in history... compounded by the fact that he's actaully a decent player for the Pistons now. The franchse was doomed for years from that point on. Frank Williams???

Every time I see Camby highlights I get angry.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Mcdyess was bad but the Ewing trade in my view was the worst. It got the ball rolling and started our denial of never having to build a team

Nothing good ever happens to a team who trades their (only) franchise player, bad karma.

mcdyess was a risky move. but if dice didn't get hurt we would've been a great team, deep in the playoffs for years IMO. Ewing trade was much worse - we traded for a bunch of scrubs and glen rice, who everyone knew was old and on the downside of his career.

Most teams realize that when the guy who carried you for 15 years retires, it's time to start over. We tried to pretend that our '99 run to the finals was independent of Ewing and that we could sustain success without him. We refused to rebuild our team instead tried to build name after name on top of Spree and Allan. Without our guiding force you saw the results, a slow and steady decline. That refusal to rebuild has continued to this day when it appears GM/coach is finally starting to realize that we have no choice. Actually maybe he's starting to realize this.
