current roster:

06/07 1 year remaining: mo, jalen
07/08 2 years remaining: malik
08/09 3 years remaining: steph, francis
09/10 4 years remaining: frye, nate, lee, jerome, curry, quentin
10/11 5 years remaining: crawford, balkman, collins

OBJECTIVE: to give us significant cap room after the 08/09 season with a roster full of young players. a full rebuild if you will.

TIME FRAME: three years

STEPS:
1. waive mo taylor.
2. waive jalen rose.
3. trade quentin richardson for eduardo najera (2 years remaining)
4. trade jamal crawford to charlotte for top 5 protected 2008 1st round pick + 2007 2nd round pick (OR to cleveland for eric snow + two 1st round picks)
5. trade jerome james + cash for brent barry
6. after the 07/08 season, waive stephon marbury
7. after the 07/08 season, waive steve francis

END RESULT: in 08/09, our roster will be the following: nate, lee, frye, curry, collins, balkman, 2007 chi #1, 2007 cha #2, 2008 ny #1, 2008 cha #1 (and fillers like adeleke, butler, etc). we will enter the summer of 2009 with over $25 mil in cap room.

COMMENTS: this will not be pretty. we must stay status quo for the next two to three years. but we have to let these deals come off the books. we must keep accumulating draft picks and get UNDER the cap. the unpopular decision will be to trade jamal but b/c of his contract, it must be done. same for quentin. we are not winning anything over the next 2-3 years. it's a plan that has about a 0.000012% chance of happening but it's a plan that MUST happen.

anytime I see the term waive from now on, I'm going to puke.

Tell me again why not waiting for them to come off the cap on their own is a bad thing?

Also, if we're going to suck while we try to get under the cap, why not just waive everyone now and not field a team until we are under the cap.

this isn't a plan steeped in much reality...it's like you stole LB's crip notes.

Tell me again what our team looks like when we are "under the cap" and how long would it take to be a contender IF we ever sign somebody with our cap room?

I know the bulls are currently in year 8 of attempting to get to the second round for the first time since MJ, so your plan has us in the second round in 2016.

Yeah, that's a plan, unpopular? more like totally dumb.

sorry for being blunt, but try thinking before you post your yahoo fantasy moves.

The LB setback year not withstanding, we've been moving in a direction of cap space and contention the entire time. Try for a second to picture us never picking up Rose (though he did come with a pick and is expiring) and Franchise (we lost reezy AND an expiring deal).

Now, you seeing it clearly yet?

06/07 1 year remaining: mo (gone), jalen (gone, but never would have been here and AD would have been GONE)
07/08 2 years remaining: malik (let him stay another year, he's like a coach)
08/09 3 years remaining: steph (leader of team), francis (is 20 years old and his name is Ariza!!! oh, and he costs only $2 mill)
09/10 4 years remaining: frye, nate, lee, jerome ($5 mill backup 7 footer, quit your bitchin fish!), curry, quentin (blame it on brandi!! women, they'll take you for everything)
10/11 5 years remaining: crawford, balkman, collins

Hmmm...if not for effing LB, we'd be talking about cap room in 08/09 without having to WAIVE ANYBODY and if we happened to make a trade it would have been for KG or JONeal, not the second rate talent we had to pick up to appease LB.

So stop acting like last year had anything to do with the original plan of being in contention and under the cap BOTH in 08/09.

oh, i forget, you can say things like "zeke would have made a trade and starphucked us" but you were saying he was going to trade our picks and now that LB is gone, NOPE.

Zeke loves youth and athleticism, he's succeeded in the NBA with the youngest team out there, so he knows vets do not a championship make, he's a homegrown player that never switched teams, so he understands that great players are created by staying with the team that picked them, duncan, jordan, etc., all the greats won playing for only one team.

Think about it...let it simmer.

Now go back to fantasysports.yahoo.com and come up with something better chump. (joking about the chump, but over here it's 6pm and I'm ready to rock baby!!)

Blame it on amsterdam...blame it on amsterdam.

dj- you so crazy.

I admire your creativity, but if Dolan is forced to pay Larry HIS chedda, do you REALLY think he'll be in a mood to simply put players on the street AND pay them at the same time?

C'mon bro.... you KNOW I'm down with you... win or lose... but... c'mon...

c'mon...dj

dj... c'mon...

1. waive mo taylor - nah, ain't gunna happen

2. waive jalen rose - see above

3. trade quentin richardson for eduardo najera (2 years remaining) - not bad, but Najera is redundant in our crowded frontcourt. I like David Lee much better.

4. trade jamal crawford to charlotte for top 5 protected 2008 1st round pick + 2007 2nd round pick (OR to cleveland for eric snow + two 1st round picks) - if anyone sez Eric snow one more time I'm gunna puke.

5. trade jerome james + cash for brent barry - nah, Jerome is working on his behind the back dribble.

6. after the 07/08 season, waive stephon marbury - that sound like pure hateade

7. after the 07/08 season, waive steve francis - Steve will shock everyone and show up ready to play in October. He will push for minutes and play with a joy not seen in two years. MSG fans will say, "who IS dis guy?"

You could look it up

i wonder the reaction if i posted this plan 2 years ago:

1. trade for stephon marbury.
2. trade for jalen rose.
3. trade for steve francis.
4. trade for mo taylor.
5. give jerome a 5 year contract.

the purpose of this plan was to FINALLY get under the cap and accumulate younger talent.

marbury and francis would be on the roster for two years, then waived in their final season. mo and jalen? keep them on the roster or trade them for more DRECK? that's why i proposed waiving them.

purpose of the q trade was to dump years. same with crawford.

of course it ain't realistic. but when is marbury, francis, jalen on the same team realistic.

and rv - ISIAH TRADED FOR JALEN + FRANCIS. it's called LACK OF FORESIGHT. they ended up firing lb anyway. so it was STUPID to accomodate his wishes when it kills your cap like francis.

I keep tellng you DJ, quit bringing up francis and rose, we all know Reezy was a coveted Zeke pick up and to keep harping on that is being ... well, DJ sun nyc...as for motaylor, him expiring in two years is about as sane as trading for najera and waiting two years. so, touche chump.

The marbury trade, I would have not believe you and been like no way, and if it happened would have jumped for joy because houston would finally have a real point guard...oh, houston got hurt, nevermind...

The jerome james line you stole from Fish, because nobody ever heard of the guy until LAST year...but hey, it's your post, run with it baby...I'm still with you...for now...but keep posting crazy and this thread will fade to oblivion by itself..the true definition of a PAGE 2 post...sucka!

(jokes mods, if you want me to tone it down, I'll quit with the redbulls and espressos...this swiss coffee is effing crazy and the red bulls are from austria..so they are FREE)
