I know we all have our gripes with him as a GM, but I'll be damned if I don't respect him at least a little more after reading this article and learning what he has to deal with away from the Knicks. This guy goes through more tough times in one year with his daughters' medical problems than I can imagine for a lifetime.

That's sad. He should resign and take care of his kids. Make room for a change.

look, I wish Layden and his family the best of health.

I also hope Layden gets fired. Know why? He's a terrible GM. He's ruined this team, and this team's immediate future.

the guys a multi-millionaire sevreal times over. there are people with problems who dont have a penny. atleast he can thank God that he has the financial resources to offer his family the best medical attention. Thousands of other kids get 0.

I really believe the only way out of this hole is to hire Magic Johnson and Mike Coooper and bring back credibility with the fans the players and the league asap. Layden can be moved into taking care of the liberty and other various garden events. I don't think Layden would want the martyr lable--he knows hes fortunate. This is a business first and we need to restore to a real business.

Though Layden seems like a really good guy, he has failed several times over as the Knicks GM, and needs to go in time for us to get someone who can work the draft, so we don't have a repeat of the Ed Tapscott/Froggy Weis debacle.

But the REAL problem is Cablevision, specifically little man Dolan. Every business of theirs seems to be cursed. He cares NOTHING for basketball or winning a championship. I'm not being naive, here; I know this is a business, but even guys like Mark Cuban and Paul Allen want to win it all.

I think of that idiot used car salesman Wayne Heizinga (sic) who destroyed the Marlins. He didn't care that they were winning, and he was plotting their dismantling WHILE they were on their way to winning the World Series, because he couldn't figure out how to make money with the team. Guys like that should never get into professional sports to begin with. There has to be some real passion for winning and going all the way, to bring people to the games and give them a good time. This is how you profit. Pat Croce understood this when he took over in Philly (now he's gone; they're not so exciting anymore.) When Croce got the number 1 pick (he later used it for Iverson) he looked like he just won the Super Bowl. He was happy and he showed it. Dolans don't care, they just want some 1st or 2nd round playoff money.
