Matt Harpering. Tough as Nails, great defender, great perimeter shooter....It may not even take the whole MLE.

East Valley Tribune - With the point guard pool dropping dramatically since the July 1 negotiating period started, the Phoenix Suns may opt to wait and see what options appear via trade later in the summer or wait and see who may be waived, according to the East Valley Tribune.

Phoenix coach and general manager Mike D’Antoni has also said he wants to give Leandro Barbosa another shot at the point, meaning the Suns could go after another shooter like Matt Harpring and move Barbosa from the shooting guard spot he played much of last season. Harpring went into free agency looking for the mid-level exception of $5.4 million, but that asking price might be dropping.

If we can clear some fat through whatever process necessary...Maybe let Butler go, get rid of whoever through trades. Either way, I think Harpering would be a great fit as a starting SF until someone can take the job from him (Q Woods?) then he can be a great player off the bench.

Isiah likes this roster as is. As he put it, he's now going to enjoy the fruits of his labor.

I bet LB would have loved to have had a player like Harpring as his SF last year. Maybe he would have only needed 35 different starting lineups with him as his SF.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

If that was the case, he wouldn't have been in talks to get Ben Wallace.

I have to say it's is absolutely HILARIOUS that Zeke is targeting LB type players now (the draft, Wallace, KMart, Snow)....

He targetted hardworkers even in the draft before Larry got here. K-Mart's been rumored to NY before Larry got here. Snow is just a throw in. I haven't seen anything to suggest he's targetting Snow. He always goes after the stars be it Kobe, Rasheed, or Big Ben and I'm sure he would have even if he'd never met Larry.

...or his daddy told him to stop flushing money away or he would lose control of the Knicks.

Yeah, he targeted hard working rookies. Now all of a sudden he is after some hard working vets, all of which LB mentioned by name that he wanted here when he was here.

And KMart was never rumoured to be on his way here before Larry...he was signed and traded to Denver the year before LB got here and LB mentioning to Isiah he wanted him in NY was the first I EVER heard of KMart coming here....you must be thinking of Jalen.

It was a good idea Joe, I like Harpring too.. it's too late now though

http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/41296/20060704/harpring_jazz_reach_agreement/
Deseret News - The Jazz and veteran forward Matt Harpring have reached oral agreement on a long-term deal that will keep the gritty free agent in Utah for a fifth season and likely beyond, the Deseret News is reporting.

"I know he's pleased to make a decision," Harpring's Atlanta-based agent, Richard Howell, said Tuesday morning. "He and (his) wife feel good about it."

The deal is believed to be four years in length. Financial terms were not immediately made known, but ESPN is reporting the deal is worth $25 million over the four years.

"He reached an agreement (Tuesday) morning," Howell said, "and he intends to sign July 12."
"OMG - did we just go on a two-trade-wining-streak?" -SupremeCommander
