Who are some players that the Knicks will have to ponder taking back though? Jalen is signed at $16.9 per, Francis is at $15.1 per, Mo T at $9.8, QRich at $7.5 per, and JJ at $5.4.
Just on return, I'd say JJ will not be dealt. I can't imagine any team in the NBA wanting Jerome James after last year, he's a pretty pathetic player, is 30 years old, and is signed for another four years. Tragic stuff.
QRich, Mo T, and Jalen I could see being moved around, but only for a guys with a equally bad contracts or question marks. Troy Murphy, Kenyon Martin, and Dariues Miles are three guys I can think of who fit those categories. Do you want to deal with anyone of them?
I say screw DMiles, he's a headcase and a loser. Murphy crashes the boards and can stroke it from 18' but does GS really want QR? Who knows what's going in Mullin's head, he runs that team like he's still on the sauce. KMart could make sense, and I keep coming back to him. He's a guy with playoff experience, is in a situation he wants out of it, would probably want to come back to the NY area, and I'm sure would buy into Isiah's philosophy. That's what I think Isiah is going to go after, at least thats what it seems like in the draft. He wants guys who are going to hustle, work hard, play defense, and listen to him, KMart fits that category.
And I know everyone will whine and complain about his contract and injury questions, but throw him in the front court (start him with Curry; Frye, like Crawford, is much better off the bench for now. Both played very well off the bench during the 6-game win streak in January), bring Frye off the bench and play him comparable minutes, and the Knicks front court would at least have a fighting chance.
And I'd rather have Kmart locked up for 5 years vs. a QRich (also has injury problems but is a spot-up shooter who has nothing else left b/c of his back) or even Francis (since we already have Marbury).
