I think he's trying to mix things up with this team, finally, as opposed to going for purely offensive minded guys.

Now, I really don't know much about these 2 kids, but I think he was exactly right when he said we already have a lot of what Marcus Williams has to offer, and I'm sure he felt that the other remaining players just weren't that NBA ready or suitable. Face it, this wasn't the strongest of drafts, unlike last year, where a lot of diamonds would be picked in the later stages.

Besides, if claims he needs defensive minded players now, so I'm fine with that. At least he knows what we need basketball wise, and we needed a hard nosed 3 anyway. I'm not really paying attention to that Ron Artest/Dennis Rodman crap. He's just endorsing them.

I think most of you will know, that I think Isiah probably should have been gone a long time ago, but I honestly think he shouldn't be bashed as hard as he is now. We can get shooters elsewhere. We can always go after Dalembert (With one of their guards, especially considering they want to trade Iverson) if we really need a shotblocker, which we do. We weren't gonna get anything great in the 20s. Sene was gone. Hilton was gone. Lets all just hope these 2 guys we have become nice players who can mix it.

I honestly liked Lowry a lot more at the 20 than Marcus.

All I want is someone to slow down opponent from driving into the lane. This is what I think the two picks made should provide us with. Our perimeter defence is horrible which is an understatement.

So what was the attraction of a player who received little pre-draft fanfare? "We wanted to get defenders," Thomas said. "We have enough offensive players. We need guys who defend."

Before the draft Isiah said that he wanted guys who could cover the perimeter, but be quick enough to double and then recover to the 3 pt line. That's a HUGE thing for this team. We just didn't have enough quickness and size on the perimeter. These guys are ball hawks and both have quick hands and feet. Collins gives us a big guard who can run the team and allow our small scoring guards to do their thing. I think people rush to judgement of Isiah too often. If you look at this team you can see that he's building a nicely balanced young team.

yes, balance and cohesion were badly needed. these are two glue defenders. they aren't sexy picks, but they may help our team quite a bit.

Alot of people bash IT for not having some apparent and discernable plan, but then bash him when he addresses team needs in this draft. I'll reserve my judgement on the draft until summerleague at least.
I'm glad he is taking a more defense oriented approach when targeting players.
I'm really looking forweard to see who he can bring in via trades.
