Best lines (fron Draft Express) on 6'6 PG Mardy Collins for all the people who kvetch about defense

He has superb hands and outstanding anticipation skills, and his excellent footwork, wingspan and lateral movement do the rest. He gets his hands on a huge amount of deflections every game, coming up with steals, blocks and igniting the fast break for his team and often finishing it himself. He's also a solid rebounder for his position, averaging just under 5 per game on the year.

And then, did somebody say "intelligence"?

Collins’ intangibles are outstanding, possessing fine leadership skills and an excellent demeanor on the floor. He’s an intelligent player both on and off the court who does exactly what’s asked of him by his coaches.

The only question is can the new guys play winning baskeball

he's a slow combo guard who cant shoot the rock. in a league where skills are at a premium we went the other way. Lets see those guys in there together lets see guys like devin harris buzz right around collins and lets see balkman guard a real SF like Paul Pierce who outweighs him ny 35 pounds

Slower than your man Williams? I doubt that.

Right, but Marcus Williams will be able to defend who in the NBA? Nobody.

Maybe he can distract opposing guards by telling them all the stuff he stole out of their lockers while they were playing.

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I'm not knocking Collings but I wonder if a fair NBA comparison is Shandon Anderson?

You beat me to it oohah. I read BRIGGS' post, and pretty much your entire post came into my head. I think bitter is the word here. Look BRIGGS, we know Williams was your guy, but face facts. A large majority of the NBA's GM's think he's not good enough. I guess UConn played well these past few years despite him.

Not even comparable to Shandon. The comparisons to McKie make sense. I also see a lot of Eric Snow in him.

funny bynum scord more points in one nba Q than balkman scored in any game of his college career at 18 years old when he put up 18 4th Q points against our star C ed Curry in another knicks blowout loss. And as Bynum matures over the next 2 years we will regret we didnt take him

the only thing that scares me is that Briggs is right more than he is wrong...so, seeing him go crazy gives me pause even here in europe, but I still would prefer Frye over Bynum, so I'm pretty cool with a defensive rebounding 3 that thinks defense first.

While I like Qwoods at the 3, he's more offense then defense.

I've always thought of nate as a SG, and forcing him to be a point guard was all LB, he's a 2, you can tell by how often he shoots.

So, our bench is now has energy rebounding and defense in
Collins, Nate, blackman, lee

Love it lots
