Welcome to The Show! On Monday, fed up New York Knicks fan, Mr. Orange, will stop by to chat about the demise of his beloved team, an upcoming Knicks protest he is planning and his website www.selltheknicks.com.
The anti-Dolan protest will begin next Wednesday in New York at 3 p.m. ET at The Mercury Bar, 659 Ninth Avenue between 45th and 46th street. The group will march to Madison Square Garden and attend the NBA Draft that night at the Garden's Theatre.
Knicks fans witnessed one of the most disastrous seasons in franchise history this past year. Despite hiring veteran coach Larry Brown, the team wallowed in the Eastern Conference basement all season and finished with the second worst record in the league at 23-59.
Join Mr. Orange to talk about what went wrong, how to fix it and how to show your Knicks passion at the protest! The chat will start on Monday at 1 p.m ET. Send your questions and comments now!
SportsNation Mr. Orange: Thanks for coming by! Let's get going!
KC (New York): Do you think the Knicks would just be better off blowing the entire thing up (including the front office) and starting over? What would you do if you were in Dolan's position right now to fix this mess?
SportsNation Mr. Orange: I definitley think blowing it up is a good idea. I'll given them the benefit of the doubt this year because I'm a die hard fan, but I don't have high hopes. I'd like to see Dolan sell the team but he probably won't, so I'd like to see him get rid of Isiah and go back to what he used to do: pay the bills and take a backseat in the basketball area. Cable TV and basketball are not the same thing.
Mike (NYC): Can you please tell us all the info about the protest on Wrdnesday because I am 100% in.
SportsNation Mr. Orange: I just spoke to the MSG box office and I'll be there at 8:00 am.m to get the tickets that go on sale at 9 a.m. As for the protest, it starts at 3 p.m at the Mercury Bar at 659 9th Avenue for a little pre party to get everone ready. A bunch of free food and the whole place is reserved. You don't need to be 21 to get in, either. At 5:15 we'll assemble at 46th and 9th and get the march together, then at 5:30 we'll head out toward MSG.
Robert. Atlanta, GA: Who would you like to see as the new owner of the knicks?
SportsNation Mr. Orange: A lot of people will mention celebrities like Trump, P. Diddy or Spike Lee, but they would probably want too much of the limelight. I'd like someone who knows the game and will put their heart and soul as well as money into the team. But also someone who would put the proper people in place based on merit and not personal relationships to make the right basketball decisions.
Brad (NYC): Why do you think the Rangers have managed to right the ship under Dolan and Sather, but the Knicks just cannot seem to get it?
SportsNation Mr. Orange: The Rangers one year of success this past year has little to do with Dolan and everything to do with the new rule and having Jaromir Jagr. And CableVision will try to fudge the numbers a little and say they improved their financial numbers over the year before when in reality there was no hockey last year anyway.
Chris, New Jersey: Mr. Orange...who do you keep from the current lineup and what players would you look at to make a trade for this summer
SportsNation Mr. Orange: I keep the three rookies with their talent and good contracts, but it's murky beyond that. Marbury is a cancer, I don't want any part of Francis, we can't get rid of James. As for the expiring contracts, suck it up for one more year and let them go next year. Richardson could stick around but beyond that there's not much else positive to say about the roster. I'll give Crawford a second chance.

Shaun (Madison WI): Isiah Thomas took over a Pacers team that had just played in the NBA Finals and was able to gut out a couple of No. 8 seeds in the East and once he left they started winning 50 games again...why in the world does anyone in the Knicks organization think he can coach?
SportsNation Mr. Orange: It's all Dolan. He wants to shoot hoops with a Hall of Famer. He's told the press he doesn't know anything about basketball. Steve Mills pushed for Isiah and Isiah pushed for Brown, and as long as Mills and Isiah continue to be 'Yes' men they will stick around. But in a sense this was the only choice they could make because this is Isiah's mess and he has to solve the problem. But I agree, he's not a good coach.
Mal (New York, NY): Who do you like in the draft this year for Knicks and what do you think their biggest need is?
SportsNation Mr. Orange: I haven't been able to follow a lot of the prospects because I've been working on this campaign. I have a feeling a trade is coming to either package picks and move up or use one of the picks with an expiring pick to move up. I've heard Eddie Jones and the No. 24 for Francis and the No.29 and I think that would be a good move to clear some space and with the roster situation I expect to see a trade.
Tommy Dee White Plains, NY: Orange- How many games do you give Isiah before you fire him. And how long before Greg Anthony comes in and runs the show???
SportsNation Mr. Orange: I like GA, he's got a good personality and a good mind. I could see him having a role. As for Isiah, Dolan is all about 'Yes' men and not so much about results so we could see him for a while. I could see him sticking around for 18 months or so, but if we start 2-17 I could see Dolan cracking and outsing him before the New Year. It all depends.
George, Yonkers: What about Dolan's plan to demolish Madison Square Garden, and move it downtown. A bilion dollar project. Bloomberg was ticked Dolan's ruining the Jet's stadium and NYC's Olympic bid. Do you think it'll happen?
SportsNation Mr. Orange: It wouldn't shock me at this point. Dolan is in it for the dollar and he likes to piss people off, and he definitely has a history with Bloomberg over the stadium thing. If he thought something like that would upset Bloomberg he would do that. But it would be a horrible move for the team and the city. MSG hasn't always been in the same place but the current Garden is the place most New Yorker's know as MSG and we need to keep that. A lot of studies say moving it would be hard for the area and I'm not sure it would be a good move.
rob (grecoville): Mr. Orange, who are you?
SportsNation Mr. Orange: Just a longtime fan and former season ticket holder. I'm a die-hard who's fed up and tired of all this. I just wanted to take a stand and try to make a difference by doing something to force a change. As for the name, people say I'm either a coward or just being funny, but I don't use my name because I don't want celebrity out of this and I don't want people to think that. So I go with a nickname. Some people think I'm hiding from Dolan but that's not true, because plenty of people in the city know me. But the name did come from Reservoir Dogs.
Jay, New York, NY: Do you think Jim Dolan even cares that several years from now there will be more Brooklyn Nets fans than those he continues to alienate from the Garden?
SportsNation Mr. Orange: Dolan doesn't even know what the Brooklyn Nets are. I bet he doesn't even know they're coming, I bet. I'm not saying I'll change sides and become a Nets fan, but they're putting out a good product and there will be folks looking to the local alternative that is much better.
Tom Volkert (Camp Lejeune, NC): Mr. Orange, with the recent news that Larry Brown "violated" MSG rules by speaking with reporters without a PR rep by his side, are we just seeing more ways of Dolan getting out of t
SportsNation Mr. Orange: Absolutely. The fact that he's trying to create new ways to talk to people shows how clueless he is. Coaches talk to the media, that's just how it is. This isn't business where he can put gag orders on people and just because he doesn't want his dirty laundry out there doesn't mean he can change the way things are always done in the NBA. Fans and media expect to get feedback and updates and we should get them. He's deflecting the blame, but the reports of Larry going to other GMs and trying to make trades behind Isiah's back would be something to be upset about. I can see that, but the PR thing is BS.
Craig (PA): Do knicks fans find in frustrating that unlike baseball (with the yankees and mets), you cant just buy an NBA championship?
SportsNation Mr. Orange: I don't really buy that. Most fans I talk to are frustrated with the salary situation and want a more manageable payroll and no one really likes all these big deals Dolan endorses. Fans don't want to have the highest payroll.
MIKE (NY NY): Where can I get some t shirts? You selling them Wednesday somewhere?
SportsNation Mr. Orange: You can get them from the website: selltheknicks.com. Click on the 'Store' link. But we won't be selling them anywhere. You have to have a permit in NYC and I don't have time to do that.
Rich Bronx ,NY: When and what would make you put an end to the "Anti-Dolan" movement? As a lifelong die hard Knick fan, I'm afraid the "selltheknicks" mantra will die out after the draft.
SportsNation Mr. Orange: I'm in it for the long haul. The site will be up as long as it takes to make some changes. He doesn't have to sell the team. If someone can get through his thick skull and get him to put some basketball minds in place and step back a little I could live with that. We've been to the Finals under his watch but at some point he decided to stick his nose in and mess with things. I'm trying to give the fans a voice and give them a place to vent, so the only way it will fade away will be if the fans out there are all talk and no action we'll have a hard time keeping it going. But Knicks fans are the best in the world and I like to believe everyone is pledging their support in earnest and we'll get something done.
Jim (LA): What kind of chants will the Knicks fan have during the draft?
SportsNation Mr. Orange: The rallying cry will be 'Sell The Kicks!' It's easy to say and fits nicely, and I'm sure we'll hear some 'Duck Folan' chants too. And maybe some 'Fire Thomas' chants, too. And we should have some posters in there, too.
Phill (NYC): Mr. Orange, I'm now relegated to being a closet knicks fan since it just hurts too much to watch. I was happy when Brown was fired cuz I know the next one out is Isiah. How do I join the campaign without leaving work before 5?
SportsNation Mr. Orange: Head to selltheknicks.com and make your voice heard. Buy a shirt and wear it around town. And, hey, we're assembling at 5:15 to head over so meet up with us and head over to the Garden. Meet up with us on 7th Avenue and jump in there with us! I'd love to see everyone out there at 3 p.m. at the Mercury. They've been great to us and it should be a good time. Get out early in the day or join us later on it you want. But just get out there and help add fuel to the fire.
SportsNation Mr. Orange: I appreciate everyone sending questions! I hope all true Knicks fans get out there and make their voices heard. Head over to selltheknicks.com and do everythnig else to get things changed. We're doing everything we can to get everyone involved. Thanks again!
