That displays exactly what is wrong with the Knicks...
Roy Williams on: ---------------------------------------- * David Noel's NBA prospects. "I spoke to his agent last week, and he felt the clubs were really impressed with David's athleticism and his ability to play basketball," Williams said of the former Southern High School star. "They're not saying that he was the best shooter or the best dribbler or the best jumper, but his athleticism and his all-around ability [have impressed].
"And everybody has been talking about what a great, great kid and what great character he has. If I'm a guy that's on an NBA bench, I guarantee you my 12th man is going to be a heckuva a good kid. I've got to have somebody I can talk to."
* Managing the Tar Heels' depth and massaging everyone's egos. "I'm not really worried about it," he said. "I know everybody else is that always looks on the woe-is-me side or the glass-is-half-empty side, but we've got such good character kids I'm not worried about it.
"The other thing is players determine who plays what minutes, and players determine who starts. It's not in my hands. It's in their hands. What happens during preseason conditioning program and preseason conditioning practices will determine that. I can tell you that that is not a worry of mine at all." ---------------------------------------------------------
Look at our bench. We got guys with no character who could care less if they're even playing basketball as long as the checks keep coming. We need to start bringing in character to fill the end of the bench and cut our losses with some of the deadweight. That's why I'm so high on Lowry. As a 12th man, he'd do more for this team in my opinion than anybody could do that actually gets in for 5 mins a night.
The other point he makes is the starting lineup or active team won't be set until they battle it out in training camp. Our training camp this year needs to be a war. Guys need to be playing as hard as they possibly can and if it turns out that Nate and Lee work harder than everybody, they better be in the starting lineup. Why should Curry start over Butler if he's out of shape?

When did I say LB caused us to lose nearly 60 games? I was a big Larry Brown fan and thought he was the one who would be able to turn this thing around -- by changing the culture on this team.
That's exactly why the 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th guys on the team are so important. This is a team sport -- we see the games and that's it. The good teams love to compete, love to play the sport, get along with each other in the locker room, and COMPETE in practice. That's exactly what the 12th man has to do with winning. You want to change the talent on this team. I want to change the culture. My argument is that we have all the talent we could possibly need right now -- we need to change the culture to a winning culture with guys that have fun playing the sport of basketball. Fill the roster with role players.
You don't think guys like Dudley helped the Knicks in the 90's? Guys like Darrell Armstrong for the Mavs this year?
Winning in this league, or any aspect of life for that matter, isn't all about talent.
