Chicago is said to have Rose available because he can't co-exist with the Bulls' young guns, notably Jay Williams, and the Knicks have interest. Chicago has also expressed interest in Sprewell in the past. In addition to Sprewell, we also have our injury exception available and that is something Chicago could use. They are also shopping Marcus Fizer and Jamal Crawford so a good deal could come up between us and the Bulls. I know this is a Peter Vecsey rumor, but it's one that actually makes some sense. Thoughts?

Rose is an awesome player not only because he can play 1, 2, or 3, but he's a great scorer as well. Good height for any of the positions he plays.

Fizer, Rose, and Crawford for Spree and Ward works straight up, without the injury exemption. I'm hoping they pry Stro Swift away with the exemption, which I believe would work since the excemption is worth $4.55 million and Swift is earning $3.6 million. If the Grizz put in Earl Watson, who makes $1.2 million (and is signed for 3 years), then it probably would work.

Knicks Line-Up:
PG-Crawford (6'5")
SG-Houston (6'6")
SF-Rose (6'8")
PF-Thomas (6'9")
C- Swift (6'9")
6th Man:Fizer
BENCH: Anderson, Weatherspoon, Postell, Eisley, Williams, Harrington, Knight, Doleac, Watson

The height problems would be solved, so that'd be a positive, and there'd be an influx of young talent. With a probable lotto pick and 2nd rounder, and McDyess coming back next year, the Knicks might be able to turn it around.

You can trade the exception for ONE player only since it's an injury exception for 1 player, if indeed it would be traded for Swift the Grizz would just get a 3.6 trade exception which would count for one year and with next years FA bonanza could actually be worth quite alot. PLus it might just sneak them below the luxury tax treshold (barely though).

Oh, alright. Thanks for clarifying. Could the Knicks throw in their 2nd rounder next year along with $3.6 million of the exception, because West might just accept that.

Krause isn't going to give up Crawford that easily...

We should not trade spree... He is heart of the team.. I personally hate jalen rose... His game doesnt compare to spree.... Maybe we should trade shandon anderson, the 4.5 mil expection for fizer, and crawford. I think that would a decent trade... Maybe we should throw in a 2nd rounder too...

Layden should be so lucky as to have Spree on his Roster. I personally think Knicks at this point in time don't deserve to have such a high caliber player that they are so ready to shun and publicly scrutinize. I dunno about anyone else... But I seem to recall the last game in the finals against the Spurs.. The guy was the only one one the floor playing hard basketball... He lit up the Spurs that game.. but unfortunatley Allan Houston could'nt step up just as hard and we lost. I also seem to recall the last game in the Playoffs in the Raptors series.. He gave it all out there... His teammates did not give "their heart and soul" like he did. When it comes down to it... He is the man that produces in the clutch when we need him... I can't say enough about him. Granted he has his flaws... But overall.. He is a superb player that gets no love for what he brings to the table... Knicks don't deserve this guy with how they are treating him...

Apparently Chicago has offered Marcus Fizer to the Knicks for their injury exception and a future first round pick. I like that deal a lot considering if the pick is lottery protected. Maybe we can get a larger deal together and replace Sprewell and Rose, but i like it either way. I think this is an excellent plan but it's good for Layden to take some time and look at his other options. This is definitely an acceptable deal though.

I'd throw in this year 2nd rounder and take out the future first. Fizer has potential, but not that much potential.

exactly. no future 1st rounders. fizer has been a huge disappointment so far anyway. for a #4 pick in the draft, for him to be posting the #'s he has (or hasn't been) is a shame.

I would do this trade in a heartbeat!! Jalen Rose is better than Spree. Younger, more talented and taller 6'8. This trade is a no-brainer.

Fizer has put up solid numbers so far in his career so you can't say he's a disappointment. He's only been in the league two years as well. I think he's capable of breaking out into a top-20 PF in the league within the next couple of years. Maybe not an all-star but he'll be close to it in his prime. This year he's capable of starting in New York and putting up 13 and 8 a game in 30 minutes. Thats not too bad. As for Rose, he could pretty much replace Sprewell and his numbers, but what makes Sprewell so valuable is his leadership on the court. Rose will have a hard time providing what Sprewell does night in and night out. Hopefully McDyess will bring that to the team next season as well.

I can see a Rose-Fizer-Crawford for Spree-Ward-exception-2nd round pick trade. That would be do-able. Chi-town wants to get rid of Rose, don't need Fizer and would let Crawford go for a solid backup PG with not too much contract. Both Spree's and Ward's contracts are up soon, so that fact along with the exception would give the Bulls flexibility.
