It is safe to say that Jalen Rose will be on the trading block in the coming weeks. The Knicks have 12 players under guaranteed contract, not counting Qyntel Woods and Jackie Butler, who can (and should) be brought back at bargain prices. That bumps the # up to 14, and with two more first rounders, that makes it 16. Obviously there will be moves.

Since Isiah didn't get along with Rose in his first coaching stint in Indiana, and due to the fact that there will probably be a trade, here was the best I could come up with. I really think its going to be a deal where NY has to take on some guaranteed money and will look to improve in the frontcourt (specifically at small forward and with interior defense and rebounding).

KNICKS deal Rose and the 2 first rounders to DEN for Kenyon Martin and Eduardo Najera. Once again, not a move I want to see happen, but something I see Isiah doing. He knows this will be his last hurrah, he needs to add players who he think will help him win. Denver gets huge cap relief and the ability to add 2 young players this year, while the Knicks add tough rebounding and defense, not to mention more money.

Knicks deal Rose and pick 29 to the Blazers for Darius Miles and Theo Ratliff. Knicks add perimeter defense and another big-time athlete (and overpaid malcontent) in Miles, and an injury-prone, overpaid big man in Ratliff.

Other than that, I really don't see where Rose fits in. Possibly to Seattle for Rashard Lewis? I'm not sure, but I think he will be used in a package with the picks for Isiah's one last move.

Rose is owed almost $17 million (yikes). I think his value will be greater toward the trading deadline in February because a lot of teams won't want to burn that much money on a player with his limited ability and sometimes questionable attitude, even though he has an expiring contract.

If that's true, and Isiah has any qualms about having him on the roster, I would tell him to stay home until he is traded, no matter when that ultimately is.

kmart doesn't improve the SF position. I think he is going to try and get Jrose to contribute. Him and Francis are targeted as "need to step up players". I think they were both brought in to placate Larry brown, and are not part of our plan for continue to get young and athletic.

I'm sure if zeke could get reezy back he would.

K-Mart's deal runs until his option in 2011 and it's nearly 17mil at that point.

No way should we lock up that kind of money unless they're throwing in multiple draft picks.

Kmart would improve our front court defense, our intensity, and our toughness. Plus, he would fit in well if it was a running team.

Gr33d, you said his deal runs until 2011, well, does that not seem to be a player Isiah would want to acquire. We are capped out until 2008-2009 anyway, would a few more years matter at that point?

Yes a few more years would greatly matter at this point. Isiah should not add any contract that runs past 2008-09, it should not be allowed by Dolan.

jalen rose is probably going to yield one of the following:

1. dmiles/ratliff
2. rashard lewis/fortson
3. part of a kg mega deal

IF they let isiah use him in a deal. we don't even know if isiah is allowed to make deals now. moving a contract like jalen's is a significant cap hit. are they going to let a lame duck GM make that kind of move?

Hopefully Isiah has learned something in his time here..

Elite, what do you make of Rose and Isiah's inability to get along in Indiana, which led to him getting dealt to Chicago for Artest and Miller? You think they'll be able to put past differences aside?

Well sine Brown "wanted" Rose, doesnt that mean IT has a great excuse to trade him? Oh wate, if Rose plays well, IT made a a great tade and it was he who wanted him. No holdon, IT the genius only traded for him to, gasp, obtain his future expiring contract. There is really no way IT can do a wrong is there? I'll def be celebrating when he is not our GM anymore, however it happens.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

I would not be surprised if the only guy that Zeke trades is Francis. Zeke wanted Rose, here, he tried to get him for 2 years. I wouldn't be surprised if Rose is not traded and resigned here...

Rose and Franchise are here specifically FOR larry.

No Larry neither comes here.

I always thought Zeke should have coached last year. He's a coach.

I'll give you Francis. Zeke chased Rose for the 2 years he was here before Larry and nearly had a deal for him for Penny. Rose is is here because IT wants him here.

Are you sure about that? I thought they didn't get along well in Indiana because Jalen wanted to play the point and Isiah didn't want him to. There may have been some media rumors about him later wanting Jalen, but it's hard to make much out of rumors, esp. from the NY papers.

The final straw for Dolan came following the trades for Jalen Rose and Steve Francis. The Knicks contend that Brown endorsed both moves only to immediately sour on both players, much to the dismay of Dolan.

However, a person close to Brown maintains that while Brown wanted Rose, he never talked about the need to add Francis.

"Larry felt that Jalen would upgrade the talent, plus he's a guy whose contract you could trade next season," said the source. "But Francis? No way. That's not a Larry Brown type of player."
