What can the Knicks do realistically to improve the team?

Anybody think the Knicks have a shot at Shawn Marion? Not to play power fwd but to be the small fwd. Maybe Stephen Jackson? Rashard Lewis may be too soft and Al Harrington may be too arrogant and expensive. Corey Maggette is out there too.

With Channing, Curry, Marbs and Craw as the core.....on paper adding a bonified scorer at the 3 spot could work wonders. Marion would be a pipe dream but Stephen Jax could be the steady vet they need to keep things together.

If Rashard Lewis is available, I would want him at the 3, shooting as many 3pts as they can give him opportunities. They need a 3pt shooter to spread the floor. Otherwise, teams can collapse on them...

Jalen Rose, Nate Robinson, #20 for Rashard Lewis and Earl Watson? If Seattle is blwing up they do it, otherwise, no chance. Possibly find a team that is looking for and expiring contract...

Marbs/Francis/Lewis/Lee/Frye?

I don't like this "running" lineup...I need a defensive center who can run... like...umm...Amare Stoudemire...but that can't happen so? Anybody to draft? Anybody?

Kmart/Nene instead? Francis for Kmart +/- players to make it work...can we get Nene back? Will Kmart be the Kmart of NJ or the Kmart of Denver? I'll take the NJ version. I will give up Crawford if they will take Malik Rose or Jerome James.

Or, make no trades, re-sign Woods using part of the MLE.

i like the seattle idea, a 3 like lewis who just pops j's would be ideal since it is presumed that marbury and francis are going to be cutting up defenses and creating a lot of ball movement.

isiah never got along with rose in indiana, and he's tradeable. plus, they have 12 players under contract already, i can't imagine adding 2 more draft picks will help. rose, packaged with 1 or both the picks, should merit something in return.

I don't think the Knicks will ever be drama free. But what the NYK GM/Coach needs to do is define roles for his players. Establish Curry and Frye as the teams future and have Crawford play like he did at the end of the season. HAve Marbury play like he did when he first got here. People for get Marbury had some monster games when he got to the Knicks. I still vaguely remember his 40 and 17 performance. This might sound a little crazy but reduce some of the talent and bring in role players. Francis and Q-Rich should be gone, reduce clutter at that position. Q-Rich is not a sf move him. Rose is an expiring contract the kNicks should keep him a let him expire (his contract)Mo Taylor another expiring contract should be allowed to expire more reduction of clutter if not just trade him for a second round future pick.

Step 1- move either Francis or Marbury
Step 2- Add Shooting Guard
Step 3- Add a possible strong rebounder/defender to frontcourt

You have the MLE, expiring deals & two picks.

The first principal should be get younger & get cheaper. Under no circumstances (well, maybe if you were getting a talent like a Lebron) do we add to long term salary.

He should kill himself. It would greatly improve the future outlook of the franchise.

Ofcousre we don't need the likes of Marion. We got Woods who is better then KG! And Frye is the next Duncan along with the next Shaq, Curry. Too funny.

Sometimes I wonder about some Knick fans, maybe we deserve this team.

Trades proposals are really too speculative, so:

Decide whether Marbury, Francis, or Craw is your primary PG, and convince them to prioritze distributing the ball; draft a rebounding foward to play next to Curry and Frye; and draft another outside shooter to stretch the defense.

NAH your Curry and Frye predictions are too low. Curry = 18/8 and Frye 16/8 Both players will play more minutes under IT and this will allow them to achieve better #'s. Curry has been working with Aguirre already and I hear Frye is working out as well. I think they'll both benefit from a more up tempo offense, where the number of possessions per game increase. This is a part of the thing that some people overlook about playing uptempo and not running so much clock. Its not wild anything goes offense which leads to other teams fastbreaks. Its just quick hitting when the opportunity presents itself. You don't waste time on every single possession. When you attack, attack all the time, it puts pressure on the other defense. It also means that even tho Steph, Jamal etc. may take more shots there will still be plenty of possessions for everyone to be involved.

I'd like to see IT add a two way SF and a big guard with a deep threat as well as a midrange shot. A shotblocker would also be nice. We need to either sit or cut James, Mo, Malik and Jalen. Shorten the rotation to the guys who fit our new approach, which I fully expect to be uptempo.
