if they really feel he has a plan in place, and they believe in that plan, and lb curtailed that plan this year, then why not give isiah an extension? currently, his contract ends in december. which makes him a total lame-duck coach and gm. is that a good thing?

if it really is a "fix your own mess" type of situation, we're doomed. he will either be fired or will resign (which i think he will do) within a year and we'll be right back to square one. only this time, lb is no longer an option.

dj's bold prediction (or at least i wouldn't be surprised)....isiah will quit before the end of next season.

I believe it was a 3 year plan to get us respectable. If we don't make the playoffs this year, then it's 50/50, if we somehow make the playoffs with the "train wreck" of a team, he get's an extension as both GM and Coach.

I believe his bench will be everyone that is there minus LB's assistants and an addition maybe of what's his name from phoenix that sat with Herb at the summer league games last year.

Why does his contract run out in December? Doesn't it seem weird that it doesn't correspond to the end of the season?

Probably because he was hired, just before Christmas in 2003.

I don't know for sure if it's a 3 year contract...most management positions in sports have followed the john McKay (tampa bay bucs for the kids) 5 year plan.

With the knicks, I felt all along that we were in a 5 year plan to challenge for the title (i.e. get to the second round and have a shot at the ECF). With the kids he was bringing in (18 year old trevor, 3 picks the next year) he was hitching his wagon to marbury's last 2 years on the team.

I don't know what his contract states, but I've never paid attention to anybody brought onto the team born in the 70's.

I've felt those were capped forced player trades (like Davis coming and going). I agree with MoTaylor 1,000% that they are pieces of meat. Because they SUCK and are Grossly over paid.

So to even consider them real acquisitions is just trying to add to the crappy move column by isiah.

But look at the players younger than marbury and you see a full 8 - 10 man rotation.

There is no way francis, Jrose and (insert overpaid veteran here) can complain if they aren't contributing, and if they do, I see no reason to even tolerate their antics.

But if somehow, some way they even provide marginal output, we are much better than advertised.

The flipside is if Isiah does a halfway decent job as coach (e.g.: say .500), then he will get a massive extension from Dolan before he's even coached a full season and we have him for another 3 or 4 years.

I do think Isiah will net us more wins, as he will let the players play in their preferred style. He does need to balance the roster, and this point has been made before. That point aside, if Isiah doesn't make the cut, he may not even get a chance to finish the season, which is a very interesting point.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

One thing's for sure. Isiah is a better coach than a GM. I widh they'd hire Colangelo to call the shots

Maybe if things are going well, he'll get an extension as coach but not as GM - maybe they'll bring in someone else to be the GM.

oh he'll take it unless he's ready to retire from basketball. No owner is going to hire for anything other than a draft advisor

Why is that? He's proven to be a mediocre coach at best but you've said he's done a great job so far as a GM, acquiring guards one year and bigs the next with lots of young players. So why do you now think he's a better coach than GM? Or maybe contrary to the evidence you think he's a great coach. There's a shocker.

Are you saying its in bad taste for the office environment and your cubicle is open for all to see?

OR the extension it self would be too big for some of your co-workers. By that are you saying "too far" up an oral or reproductive orifice?

I guess my original idea of a graphic depiction of a "strap on" demonstration would not have gone over too well?
