The Knicks have been granted the $4.5M medical exception by the NBA. This is something they need to take advantage of. Chicago has Jamal Crawford available who would be an excellent, uptempo point guard for the future. Golden State has Danny Fortson who is young and would satisfy our rebounding needs. Memphis has Stromile Swift who is a young, big, athletic PF/C with tons of potential. All of the teams are looking for cap relief so this is the perfect time to offer around the exception in addition to Knight and Ward(even though he's been playing good basketball). Thoughts?

Thanks for the update Knixkik.

Here's the article:

http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2002/1017/1447405.html

Knicks get $4.54M cap relief to replace McDyess

The NBA granted the New York Knicks a $4.54 million midlevel injury exception on Thursday following season-ending surgery on Antonio McDyess' broken left kneecap.

The exception represents the maximum available to any team under the injured player exception clause in the collective bargaining agreement and can be used to sign another player or can be included as part of a trade.

The Knicks already have another $4.5 exception, granted by the league to all teams.

McDyess was injured with 1:55 left in a preseason game Saturday night and underwent successful surgery Wednesday. The exception is in effect for 45 days from the date of McDyess' surgery and would expire Dec. 2.

Can we combine both exceptions to take a 9 Million dollar player away from a team seeking cap relief? I dunno the rules but if so I could see us with a borderline all-star if Dolan is keen to put up the big bucks for another top notch player. ????

You can't combine the two exceptions in a trade...

It would be incredible if we could get a guy like Stro with this exception.

Let's at least try to use this one.
We suck.
