I really do wish the knicks well in the future and hope that perhaps Isiah can do better.
The short term mode by which this team operates year in and year out fails to surprise me, but the lengths by which they go to operate does.
When they say it "starts at the top" and the charactor of the organization begins with its leader its clearer each year what an irresponsible owner we have. He could be blowing his money on quality, but instead we are a laughing stock team. He spends money at an alarming rate instead of investing it in the team. We have our sixth coach since 2002 when JVG left.
Six coaches in 5 seasons! That is very telling! Thet dumbass still has to pay his assistant coaches. Now they get to make them feel uncomfortable until they leave? Won't that affect this organization even more? Money is important, but this is becoming the only good reason to be employed by the Knicks. We have sexual harrassment issuses, we had a coach walk out, we have a GM who went on national TV and humiliated his coach, then humilated him futher when he was fired. HE humilated Shandon for no good reason, trades for players with no solid foundation or goals, and is built the team around a ego maniac with no winning track record and is a nutcase to boot! As a fan, I am humiliated to say I am lifetime knick fan!
The quality of our front office is awful. You know, Spree was right to blast Dolan as he did! I thought it was humiliating to do so, but he really does deserve it!
Where is the passion for exellence? The passion to Win? The pride of building a culture? Instead we have an owner who does not think, and a GM/Coach who is almost as petty as his owner. He treats employees badly and is ego driven. HIs owner now castrates him as well. Reported Isiah did not want to coach this team. Now we have a coach who really did not want to do this? LIke a dog who poops on the carpet, we have an owner who is sticking his face in it! Dolan said Isiah would not coach this team when he hired him! Isiah has now gone thru 4 coaches in 2.5 seasons! Isiah says and wears all the right things but he is all show and no go.
A telling sign is a few years ago when Charles Dolan referred to the team as a "product". They treat this team like they do the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular!
As a fan I feel betrayed even more with Larry being "relieved". I don't feel sorry for him as he will be paid more money than he can spend, and to a certain degree he must be happy to get out of this circus for all the reasons we have argued in excess the last 37 days. I wonder if they even got to meet in person, or did Dolan act like the immature kid he is and had other people do it. Amazing that there was no compromise to which they could find a working relationship for the good of the team, for the good of the fans! Real men argue, don't always agree, but can find a compromise and work towards the common goal. There is no goal is there?
I find it hard to be passionate about a team that has no such passion for itself, the commitment to excellence at any level, to winning, to any coach, to its players, and most important to its fans.
How can I take this team seriously when it does not do so itself?
