TALLY NO!

KNICKS NIX LARRY TRIP TO LONDON

By MARC BERMAN

June 17, 2006 -- "Big Ben" will have to wait for Larry Brown. And we're not talking about Ben Wallace.

In another crazy twist to the Knick soap opera, Brown revealed yesterday that he's had to cancel a family trip to London because the Knicks have scheduled workouts Monday through Thursday and have ordered that he be there.

Even though Brown will be relieved of his coaching duties shortly, owner James Dolan is making him earn his $40 million as their designated pre-draft workout specialist.

Dolan also may want him around because he may finally be ready to meet with him next week. Signals are that Brown will be let go before the June 28 draft.

Dolan has dragged this out to make Brown as uncomfortable as possible so the lame-duck coach will accept a buyout.

After Brown left yesterday's pre-draft workouts in his black SUV, he was stopped at a traffic light a block from the facility and approached by two reporters and a Post photographer.

"We had a trip planned [to England], but we can't go," Brown said.

Asked if he's spoken to team president Isiah Thomas, Brown said, "Can't talk."

Brown and Thomas have not been on speaking terms for about two weeks. The Knicks have a gag order on Brown speaking without a public-relations employee present.

The Knicks may be using Brown and his assistants to run the workouts so Thomas can get a better evaluation from the sidelines.

Stephon Marbury will make his first public appearance today since "Brown Watch" as he kicks off his summer basketball tournament in Coney Island.

Marbury said yesterday he's been signing his autograph with the inscription: "I want to die a Knick."

But how far will he go to DIE as a Knick? Is this all talk or will he committ suicide if he's traded? It's hard not to be a little worried that it's the latter!

Yeah man, that stuff is freaky. Marbury needs to speak to Marv!

you, berman and marbury are very buddy buddy lately. maybe he's the one that fed him with the "brown seemed angrier during the win streak" stuff. which doesn't really lend any cred whatsoever to that statement.

Brown was angry during that win streak. Here's a picture of him taken during that time:

And here he is during a loss:

So I think its pretty well proven that Brown hates the Knicks and is trying to destroy the franchise.

Any shred of respect I have had for Dolan have been lost the last 6 weeks.

one day it will end badly for dolan and his empire. He keeps a bad vibe spinning around his business, and that never helps in the long run.

That day will be a LONG time coming. They've got money coming in by the boatload. Still why the loss of repsect for Dolan for Hanging LB out to dry? He's within his rights to do whatever he wants as long as he's not doing anything illegal or in violation of LB's contract. He doesn't have to be nice to him. LB on the other hand was insubordinate during the season and still does things that he's been told not to do. I feel no sympathy for him. I only care about the continued construction of this team. LB looks to be on the way out and if he's eventually not on the team anymore I could care less about him.

Dolan is a petty man as we've discovered and Larry is a manipulator, so I can't stand either of them.

Pretty much. The Knicks are screwed for the rest of my life (hopefully at least 50 more years) regardless of who the coach or GM is this season or when the decision is made (because Cablevision will never sell the Knicks or run it to win). So as might as well get a little pleasure out of stressing out Larry considering he didn't earn one penny of the $40 mil he's about to walk away with.

Sung to the tune of "London Calling" by The Clash....

London calling to coach Larry Brown
Now war is declared - and battle come down
London calling to Madison Square
Order some hot dogs, and get off your chairs
London calling, try not to get sick
When Starbury says he wants to die as a knick
London calling, see we got too few wins
You're gonna get fired before the season begins

CHORUS
James Dolan is coming, Steve Mills zooming in
Meltdown expected, the crowd is growing thin
Players stop caring, but I have no fear
Cause the garden is burning and I, I sit in the blue seats

London calling to the Starbury zone
That's how it is, when you're "All Alone"
London calling to the zombies of knicks
They're changing the name, gonna call them the Pricks
London calling - now the truth is exposed
Larry begged Thomas, for Francis and Rose
London calling, see they ain't got no shame
Just look at the roster, see the name Jerome James

CHORUS x2

James Dolan is coming, Steve Mills jumping up
The whole situation is really f****ed up
Isiah's in error, but I have no fear
Cause the garden is drowning and I, I sit in the blue seats

Now get this
London calling, as often as not
James Dolan is playing with his band the straight shot
London calling from nosebleed seats
This is too much to pay for defeat
London Calling...
