First off this post isn't a knock on Brown or to praise Marbury. Its just on observation. Thats all it is.

A lot of people believe that Brown did a bad job last season. But a lot of people(including me) believe that when he gets his players he will turn it around and turn us into a contender like he has done with some many other teams.

But then it got me thinking. What if in the past the GMs of his other teams had there own visions and never got Brown his players??? Would Brown be known as the hall of fame head coach he is today?? How would have handled it?? Would he have pouted, try to exploit his roster to his gm, and get fired his whole career?? Which would have probably lasted for 2 teams if that was the case. Look at Detroit where he won a championship and had a championship calibre team. He was upset that he didn't have the pull he wanted with roster movement. Took a leave of absense because of his bladder. And was in talks with Cavs while in the playoffs about there GM position. What would have been the view of Larry Brown by fans if they would have never been able to see Brown do his thing with his type of players in the past?? Whats Browns record when he didn't have his players?? I don't know about the 70s & 80s in Denver or Jersey who his rosters were to seperate when he had his players or not. But Browns records without his players seem to be very Marbury(ish) mediocre.

Which brings me to Marbury. Marbury and the pick and roll is one of his best abilities. But never really played with an allstar calibre pick and roll type of player. You could say he played with Guggs/KG, Martin, Amare, KT. But all those guys are/were either strictly pick and pop or they had no jumper and were just pick and slash. Im talking about a poor mans Dirk, or a poor mans Karl Malone. I do think Frye has the skills to be a good pick and roll guy though he won't be a poor mans Dirk or Malone. Marbury is also excellent at penitrating into the paint. Which means he needs efficent shooters to give him space & spread the floor at SG & SF. The only time he really had that was with Houston & KVH and he had success. Lenny Wilkens seemed to have loved it. Marbury also sucks at defending quicker PGs in this league. But is excellent at guarding players in the post and is strong enough to hold his own against SGs. But has he ever had a someone able to take him off of the quicker Pgs (without being a liability themselves) and allow him to guard SGs more.

What if Marbury had these things in place in Jersey. How would Marbury's career look then? Now you could bash Marbury for not making the best out of situations. And his character, and lack of leadership, rubs people the wrong way. And say he would have just messed it up anyway because of those things. Right now you could say the same thing about Larry Brown when he doesn't get his way and his players. And Brown seems to have a fallout with his teams after a while. We can fall back on Larry Brown's past success. But then again what if his past was the one I posted up above?? We never seen Marbury in that situation in order to trully tell. Marbury was allways made the franchise player of each team. But which team truley built around him correctly if at all?? I don't remember him being on one team that had those things I posted above all at once?? Teams made Brown the coach and allways ended up getting a team to his liking. And when he didn't he was poor to mediocre. Maybe im wrong though as there might be times when he was above mediocre without his players. If so please bring up that instance for me.

Switch them around. Is Marbury now the stud with credibility?? Is Brown now the career loser?? Think about it. Remember that Eddie Murphy movie trading places.

That's what's meant by getting on the same page. YOu pick a player that you want to build around. You decide on the type of players that will compliment that player and help that player become a star. And you hire a coach that you feel can coach the type of players and style of play you plan to build. That's what good management teams do. Our management team gets a bunch of players slaps them on a roster with no compliments, no clear plan and then goes and hires coach after coach after coach and can't understand why they can't make it work. You are 100% right in all your points.

People keep pitting LB against Marbs. Just like they pitted Spree against Allan. The truth is that all these guys can be winners if you put the right team around them. Marbs can win if he is not the absolute unquestioned leader. If Chicago can win with Rodman than Marbs can win. But when you make him the unquestioned leader you are putting him in the same postion as TD adn Shaq and Michael. He is not in that category. But we do it anyway. Marbs needs compliments. We haven't gotten him any. Marbs needs authority yanked from his hands. we give him more.

LB is not Red Auerbach. He needs his type of players to succeed, just like 95% of the coach's in the league. Who are we measurign him agianst? So if you hire him get his players. IF he doesn't fit the type of team y ou are building, don't hire him. It seems simple to me. Instead we slapped LB on a makeshift roster with guys that all play the same position and when that team loses we blame Marbs and LB. It's lunacy.
I just hope that people will like me

as long as Marbury maintains that mentality of his that it's always the system that's wrong when his talents aren't put to full use, or that his teammates are at fault when the team looks bad, i don't ever see him becoming a main cog on a winning championship calibre franchise.

as for LB, he needs to shut his mouth & just coach the players he's given to coach... he was brought here to be a teacher, not to play GM, team President, & primadonna coach all at the same time... difference in LB though, is that i KNOW he can lead a championship calibre team, cuz he's proven he can do it in the past... the 1 guy in the entire franchise that has any credibility at all is LB, & he's the guy who's probably gonna be 1 & done w/this franchise this year... it's a shame we couldn't at least see what he could do w/this roster following that disastrous season, but i guess at this point there's nothing else to do but go in a different direction... cuz as it stands, LB has zero authority left w/any of the players here.
