The Sacramento Kings never made a play for Larry Brown - much to the dismay of James Dolan and Isiah Thomas - but one of Brown's assistants is headed west.

Brendan O'Connor is leaving the Knicks to join Eric Musselman's staff in Sacramento, according to a league source. For O'Connor, who also worked for Brown in Detroit, the move is regarded as a promotion. He was the fourth assistant with the Knicks and sat behind the bench. He will now become one of Musselman's top assistants with the Kings.

Brown would have encouraged O'Connor to take the job even if he was assured of returning as Knicks coach. But with Brown likely to be replaced, the move was a logical one for O'Connor, who had three years left on his Knicks contract.

Phil Ford and Dave Hanners, whom Brown hired last summer, remain on his staff.

I don't think this means much. O'Connor was offered a better job then he currently has.

I think at this point I could see the media reporting...

"Larry Browns breakfast was not served the way he usually likes it, the eggs were poached and not scrambled. This is another example in a long line that make you wonder if James Dolan will be bringing him back next year."
