Duke senior J.J. Redick failed a physical at the NBA pre-draft camp in Orlando and will be out for an extended period with a back problem that may require surgery, according to a source with close NBA contacts.

A representative of Redick’s agent, Arn Tellem of Wasserman Media Group, returned a phone call from DraftExpress and read us the following statement made by Mr. Tellem: “I am confident his draft status is anywhere from 7-14. You can take that to the bank.” When asked whether Tellem is denying or confirming the rumors about Redick’s alleged back problem, the representative said that is all Arn Tellem has to say about the back issue.

A Wasserman Media Group official later denied that there are issues that might lead Redick to conduct surgery and sit out for four months. That official was not willing to deny any reports about complications with his back that may have come up during his examination in Orlando.

According to various national media reports, Redick recently cancelled a Wednesday workout with Orlando and a Saturday workout with Boston, citing a “sore back.” Redick was arrested Tuesday on charges of drunken driving, and according to one source, his infraction may have been a direct response to frustration over his possible health issues.

Never liked Reddick, I think he's extremely arrogant and I hope this doesn't drop him far enough in the draft where the Knicks have the chance to select him because I really don't think he's going to be anything in the NBA besides a off the bench shooter. He has no offensive game aside from bombing and there are going to be taller SG's guarding him in the NBA and he will have trouble getting that shot off. Between this, his inability to play defense and do anything but shoot 3's, I don't want any part of him.

/End of rant.

this adds fuel to my fire. NO WAY TO JJ

Id take Redick at 20 if we cant do anything with it--i mean come on. anyone ever watch jeff hornacek? not a bad player it wouldnt really matter to the knicks if he was out for awhile as long as he has a problem that can heal 100%--remember oakafor had some back problems and healed up nicely redick is young and doesnt rely on athletiscm--i mean i dont think that he would have any devastating injury

I don't think Reddick is going to be anywhere near as creative offensively as Hornacek, I didn't see any signs of it last year in college when as the year wore J.J's numbers got worse and worse as teams caught on, on how to defend him. I don't think JJ is athletic enough nor does he have the creativity that someone like Jeff Hornacek, who was also extremely good without the ball, had which enabled him to become the player he did.

Whoa! Don't tarnish horny's reputation! Uf you wanna compare a player to Horny its hinrich.

As far as reddick? Come on now. Steve Kerr. Period. I wanna say Craig elho but that may be tarnishing my man craigs legacy, lol.

Duke players are cursed. Its like they either hey hurt or they are just bums in the NBA. Except brand.

Reddick will be fine as a pro.

dunnoif he is going to be a 40 mpg player but paired with a point guard who attacks the D consistently like an Arenas, he will punish teams from outside

He would be awesome if an already established team picks him up liek San Antonio, Miami, or Cleveland.....they have their go to guys but they need their share of marksmen.

As far as Gilbert Arenas? I think Gilbert actually needs a point guard to run with. Gilbert is a shooting guard If I ever saw one. His green light is big as they come.

Could reddick possibly be compared to a black guy? Dell Curry, Houstan, Dale Ellis, etc?

i think if reddick was going to fulfill his ultimate potential to the last drop, i could see him thriving in a rip hamilton sort of way.

Hey, what about Mike Miller! He's white!

JJ can be like Reggie Miller, he can run, is not all that athletic, and can shoot!

Or, Andre Miller, Naw, but Brad miller is white? BUt not same position.

Enough Millers.
