Why doesn't brown just stay?

Everyone is saying that brown has a plan to strip it down and build it back up. There is also the realism that there is no way we can trade 9 players in one offseason.

Why doesn't larry brown finish what he started?

You can't come to a neighborhood and start knocking down buildings and berating the mayor and citizens and then leave the mess before finishing off the job.

Quitters never win and winners never quit.

Like Michael, Brown is a quitter. But if the team he goes to isn't stacked, he can't win.

I thought brown was leaving cause Dolan wants him gone. Or did I miss something?

brown's teams weren't stacked, except the pistons - but even they became much better defensively once brown got there. the difference is, nobody has/can win with this awful team. lenny, herb, larry all had similar teams. nobody ever wins anything with marbury, crawford has never been a winner, etc... I don't know why people are so convinced this is a good team that can win under a "better" coach.

I am being a little hard on Brown, but he has had some pretty good teams to work with. And sometimes in his first year, his teams were horrific. Look at the '92 Spurs-- worse than our Knicks at-- that team went 21-61. '98 Philly went 31-51. Other teams have done well under him immediately. I don't think anyone is saying this is a championship team. I think we are saying they aren't THIS bad, if Brown utilized the strengths of its players. There are two types of coaches, those who have a system and find players that fit that system-- such as Phil Jackson and his Triangle Offense and Brown with his defense mindset. Then there are coaches that can recognize the strengths of their players and create a gameplan that can utilize those strengths. With the current lockup we have on our roster due to cap concerns, the latter would be preferable to the former.

Isn't he just staying because he certainly isn't wanted by the Knicks brass. LB is staying for his buyout, and he has no interest in coaching the KNicks even if Dolan steps back and keeps him. He would rather be fired and if bought out he would like all that is remaining on the contract. Either way its payup time for Jim.

He had the "juice card". It expired prematurely.

Dolan is an irrational prick. We need his check book but he needs to have a stroke.

Just sit there and sign the checks and let basketball people run things.

What a bunch of crap, he is the bigest primadonna on the Knicks right now, changed the culture that's what he did. Not in a good way for sure, to make a statement like that is wrong.

It was better when Marbury had his way and yelled back at coaches.

What's wrong with you people if you don't like Brown then you are a Marbury Lubber. NEWSFLASH they were terrible last year and I personally can't stand either of them. Since you are knowledgable why don't you share what else went on in the locker room where fans like myself have no access to.

I just don't believe that Brown actually has a "PLAN". He has a "CONCEPT" of what it takes to put together a winning team, but he's not a GM and i don't think he has the skills to do all that it takes to make the kinds of deals he'd have to make to rebuild this team. His best chance was to let Isiah help him do it, which I think he WOULD have done. The problem is that LB wouldn't shut up about how bad the players are. You can't make trades if your coach tells the world that your players lack heart and are stupid. They asked him to stop and he wouldn't do it. I really just don't understand how anyone can defend that. How could any GM work the phones under those conditions. LB should've taken a differen't approach. Say you love the player, but that they just need time and this way other GM's wouldn't know for sure how bad you thought the players were. He also should've just did whatever he had to do in order to get some wins, so that we didn't look so desparate. There's a way to do things and LB didn't do it right. He SAYS that he wanted to change the roster, but what he did was sabotage Isiah's chances for doing that.
