I don't think he would be a bad one. He may not be a championship calibre head coach. But I think he could be a good coach. He only coached for 3yrs and he did a good job of "developing" the retooling young roster. J'Oneal, Artest, Brad Miller all blew up under him. And Al Harrington probably would have if he didn't have Artest & O'neal ahead of him. He might get to much criticsm for that part of his career. While he seems to have failed in reguard to being a president. As a coach I don't think he was that bad. People say he failed there, but the only reason he was fired was because of his past beef with Larry Bird. I don't think he exactly failed there.

He took over a retooling team that lost Dale Davis & Antonio Davis and replaced them with highschool prospects in J'Oneal, Al Harrington & Jonathan Bender. Also added Jamaal Tinsley around Reggie Miller & Jalen Rose. His first yr Harrington & Bender were far from ready and J'Oneal wasn't close to the level he is now. He road Miller & Rose to 41 wins his first season. And lost to Philly who went to the finals that yr. Next season they went 26-27 before they made the Jalen Rose trade and went 16-13 after the trade. Then lost to top seeded New Jersey who went to the finals. They also lost Al Harrington for that series. The next season they start out 34-15. Then Jamaal Tinsley's Mother died of cancer, Jermaine O'neal's step father shot himself in the head, Ron Artest got suspended for 12games, Brad Miller was out with an injury, And Autin Croshere also lost a family member. Thats A LOT of problems for any coach to overcome. They went 11-19 and lost in the playoffs to the Celtics.

I don't know if you could exactly say he failed as a coach. If he does coach. While he may not lead us to a championship. I think he would do a good job of working & developing the young players on the team. Again im not saying this is the choice I want and to get rid of Brown. But I don't think Isiah would be a "bad" coach. He may not be a great one, but he isn't a bad one.

since LB's pretty much on his way outta town, i think Isiah coaching is the last hope for Marbury to turn things around... i don't expect much, but if he can at least get this guy to start acting like a leader for a change, i'll give him all the props in the world.
