holfresh I believe asked what player says its all his fault.

right now nbatv is interviewing dirk and he is talking about his maturation as a player

Dirk's self analyzation about his leadership and growth as a player:
last year some things were said and I wasn't as good a leader as I should've been. this year I've been focused on being more reponsible.

when I first came in the league I was a jumpshooting big man a pick and pop guy. The D took that away from me and my game was pretty much shut down. Avery has been pushing me to be more all around player get to the basket get some points in the paint post up. Gm 6 vs SA, it was 30 second left and I forced a long jumper against Finley that missed. We lost that game. I told myself and the coaching staff that if I'm ever in that situation again, I'm going to make the aggressive play. Game 7 same scenario presents itself and I drove it. Ginobli fouled and ait went in but even if he didn't foul me, I still drive it. Lot of time left get the 2 foul come down drive it again foul...

about the change from Nash to terry:

I was sad that Nash was gone but I knew terry was an established scorer in this league. I didn't know much more about him but I got to learn quickly. he's a great guy on and of the court. He alwasy has a joke on his lips and he is a gym rat like myself. We're always in their shooting, sometimes we come back to the gym late at night and shoot together. He has exceeded all my expectations of him.

Leadership in sports still exists. As a fan of the game, listening to Dirk was really awe-inspiring. I can just imagine how Mavs fans feel.

Here's hoping someone on NY's roster steps up.

i have a feeling if anyone steps up this season, it's going to be Crawford, Q Rich, Frye, Lee or Nate... of course, Malik will try his best to be a veteran leader too, but we need some of the other guys to step up in that capacity.

first off, loved the post mck1, but I want to add that dirk gives props to Avery the COACH.

"Avery has been pushing me to be more all around player get to the basket get some points in the paint post up"

he wasn't like this with any of his previous coaches, but somehow the coach of the year convinced him otherwise.

I'm all about saying the players should be accountable, but you gotta see the role of the coach in that equation.

Just saying.

We're well on our way...well on our way.

end of the interview a reporter asked Dirk about being tha white superstar Bird said the game may be missing.

his response:

it doesn't matter whether you're black white red or brown, you just have to go out there and get it done.

The coach has to be accountable too. Our coach was throwing games.

but he was throwing games for a reason. that's the difference, he really felt that that was the best thing for the knicks, for hte fans to see us completely fail and expose our true weakness of not being a solid team in areas outside of stats and salary.

It will work to everyone's benefit...we will rise from the ashes.

To me, anybody in any job, that isn't on the up & up, that has an agenda, that has ulterior motives for giving less effort...especially if in a position of authority, cannot be trusted & therefore should not have the priveledge of that job. Screw you Larry Brown!!!

is Larry the only one in your eyes to be guilty of that? i can name some highly paid veterans that would be guilty of the same.

Here's hoping someone on NY's roster steps up.

Marbury fired the latest salvo when he said he has tried to play Brown's way and since the Knicks aren't winning, he will go back to playing his way, aka Starbury.

"We were on a two-game winning streak when these statements happened," Brown said. "The only thing I'm thinking is that he means, 'I've got to step up.' I'm hopeful that he'll step up and be Starbury."

Brown was biting his tongue as he addressed Marbury's comments. Marbury last month said he wouldn't be 100% for the rest of the season due to a nagging shoulder injury. But now, Marbury is blaming Brown for his subpar performances, saying he doesn't have enough "freedom" in Brown's system.

"That is a problem," Marbury said.

"I've never given a guard more freedom than Stephon Marbury in my whole life," was Brown's response.

"I've figured him out," Brown added. "I had him in the Olympics. I've watched him for years. I want him to play like he was playing before his injury. I'm sure his injury has handicapped him a lot. Now, if he's not talking about his injury and he's talking about stepping up, that's great. I'm all for that.

"Maybe he's questioning what he can do. That's the way I look at it. ... He can put us right on his back and take us right to the promised land. He has 21 games."

Brown says Marbury can take 25 to 30 shots each game if they are quality opportunities and if he doesn't forget his coach's basic principles: defend, rebound, play unselfishly and take care of the ball.

"Did we lose (to Charlotte) because of our offense?" Brown asked about Saturday's loss to the Bobcats. "We got 109 points - we went up and down the court. How many teams in the league are averaging 109 points? Anybody can take as many quality shots as they want. And who has the ball?"

Did DJ kidnap you and read all of his posts to you uner the stresst of being sleep deprived?

This is most contorted logic I have ever heard. Throwing games was a good thing? Yeah, ok.

Everyone looks and sounds great when their teams are winning...It's when they have adversity you see the true character of a man...Last year, I remember well how he blamed Dampier for losing during the playoffs...So he is trying to put that behind him...So, let me see him lose a few games this year and step to the microphone and say its my fault...
