(Is Towing the actual word?)

Anyway I agree with those that said that if Brown towing the company line would only lead to mediocracy.

But I believe that Brown should have been towing the company line for 2 seasons. With it all being a part of the plan with managment.

When Brown came in we didn't have a lot of his type of players. But a lot of the players weren't movable.. There for it would have been real hard to get Browns players without adding even worse contracts. Plus the fact that we were in a situation with giving up what we did for Curry. If he would have played along for 2 seasons coaching his ass off towing the company bringing this team to an 8th seed and first rd exit. He would have been given a lot more power. And we would have been in a way better position with him to start really building this team the right way.

Not that its Larry Browns fault but all that stuff should have been agreed upon from the door with Isiah and Brown even before Brown signed his contract. And if Isiah didn't want to part with the players brought in then he should have never brought in Brown. As that should have been discussed and decided upon at that time.

Its interesting to see what Isiah's next player move is going to be. It would really let us know what road he is taking.

i don't know if we'll ever find out what happened this season. maybe it was agreed upon but at some point, isiah said "no, we're not trading player A, B, or C." who knows?

but brown has said in interviews that it was a 3 year plan. this team did not need another coach to "tow" the company line. this team needed somebody to say that what was going on wasn't right. did brown use the best tactical methods? it doesn't look like it, but that's his major flaw.

again, we have no idea what they all agreed upon from the get go. but it totally broke down during the season and it really spun out of control after the anucha thing came to light.

it'll be more interesting to see who's the coach and who's the gm when all is said and done.

Isiah gave Brown such royal treatment in wooing him and his reluctant wife to NY I don't think it's a stretch to guess that Isiah over extended himself with promises granted.

My guess is Brown was told he'd have roster input and then went through his usual machinations to get into guys head to either get them in line or motivate them, but key guys (Marbury) didn't bite and told Isiah through their back channels they weren't digging his approach, and Isiah told them he wasn't digging it either!

Then those players (Marbury) tell others that Isiah ain't digging it and at that point Browns authority is shot. From then on any of his usual devises to tweak dudes minds only drive them further away. When you have a coach and GM each speaking into different languages into different ears it creates confusion at best.

I suspect the players were getting all kinds of mixed signals between Isiah's public statement and then what they'd hear from Steph, Isiah's assistant coaches, or Isiah himself. And then the possibility of Anucha-gate undoing Isiah as well as rumors of firings drove confusion into chaos.

Then I'd guess certain guys decided that while all this uncertainty was good enough for Steph (cause he has that special relationship with Isiah) it wasn't good enough for them. Perhaps the many trade rumors shook their confidence in Isiah standing by them, and they ultimately decided to just get back to playing for their coach out of pride and respect for the game. That's when guys like Malik, Q and Crawford established themselves as Brown's leaders.

I don't know how many guys really need to be moved to restore order. I think Jalen for sure cause neither Larry or isiah cared for him in Indy - but he's an expiring contract and good as gone anyway. Steph, of course. Francis, probably. Everyone else I'd guess is just in need of a leader to follow, and a singular voice between captain, coach and GM would go a long way.

Nice post, blue. I would like to see a team that involves a motivated Steve Francis (not a 6th man Stevie Franchise) and without a thug-life Marbury. Marbs is all talk as the "best PG in the NBA." The guy doesn't pass. Second, though I respect Malik Rose for his effort, his offensive game is perhaps the ugliest in the league. He might be a good guy to have in practice (red-shirting against the younger guys) but he cannot be a legitimate starter on a competitive team.

My 5, regardless of who coaches/gms

Francis
Crawford
Q2
Lee
Frye.

Not a lot of defense on this team, but a whole lot of energy, who can run and press for a good percentage of the playing time. In the rotation, I would include Qrich as 6th man. I love Jackie Blue and might push him into the starting 5 if he can run. Curry for when you break down into a half court game. And Nate Robinson when the Guards need a spell pushing the ball up the floor.

Jalen, Mo T, James, Marbs, and Malik should all be moved for less expensive alternatives.

On the issue of who is running the team, LB needs to learn how to work with what he has. He poorly coached this team, making a lot of bad decisions. Any "undermining" by IT was de minimis with respect to the coaching mistakes LB made, especially late in the game. How often did we see the young team run and gun the Knicks back into contention for a win, when, illogically, LB would sit a player with a hot hand. Or Crawford hits 5 straight shots and gets put on the bench, despite playing only 9 minutes. LB needs to check his priorities. Or else he is on a senile power trip.
You know I gonna spin wit it

To me Brown lost his players mostly due to the lack of a consistant rotation and a lack of solidifying roles. Followed by the public crictism(spell)

If he would have done those 2 things then he basically would have close to thrown any crictism(spell) of Brown that people had of him this season out the window.

Guess we'll never know, but do consider this: effort and execution sucked from the get-go. Under what circumstances is it fair for a HOF coachto lose a team before their home opener?

NEW YORK -- Larry Brown wants to get his first win as Knicks coach behind him. New York's dismal start ruined any chance of that happening Friday night.

Gilbert Arenas scored 27 points, and Antawn Jamison and Jarvis Hayes keyed the decisive spurt as the Washington Wizards beat New York 86-75 in Brown's first home game as Knicks coach.

Just minutes after the Madison Square Garden crowd gave the Brooklyn native a loud ovation during pregame introductions, the Knicks were booed off the court after falling behind by 19 points.

"There's no excuse for guys not having energy at the beginning of the game," Knicks guard Stephon Marbury said.

Washington shot 70 percent in the first quarter - Arenas was 5-for-5 - and led by as many as 19 points in building a 32-16 lead. The Knicks were booed as they walked off the court after shooting 28 percent....

I agree with you that the team didn't play with the effort they should have throught the season. I don't know how many people debate that. But agian. If Brown would have had a consistant rotation, and roles, etc... Then it would eliminate a lot reasoning for fans, Isiah, Dolan, & players to criticize him. Nobody would be able to hide the lack of effort behind that.

I see the point you are making, but when you have a team with as many crowded positions as we have with overlap of similar talent and worthiness I think people would have found grounds to criticize him whatever he did, if the wins were not there.

Play the vets and get accused of Darkoing the kids. Play the kids and get accused of benching our best players and trying to show up Isiah's ridiculous payroll. Whoevers role was diminished would have been trumpeted as the guys who could have made a difference.
