Alot of guys clown this league but its basketball.....these girls can play. The game is definately getting alot better with more talent flying in from college and overseas.
Anyway.....
The Liberty have always been an over achieving team. They always have got by on hustle and just the heart and will of some of the ladies they had here. Weatherspoon is the true example of this.....cuz she sucked so bad but just her heart carried the team to where it was.
Throughout the years they have always benched good players in favor of veterans. Becky Hammon is the main one. Becky didn't get her fame until Weatherspoon left. Becky was always better than Weatherspoon buy a land slide.....Still in this Becky Hammon era they seemed to have lost their minds.....
Becky is a point guard....at 5'6" what else can she be. She is like the Marbury of the Liberty. They have tried to make her play off the ball but she does alot of ball handling anyway.
Last year they drafted this point guard out of Tennessee named Loree Moore. The girl is a Weatherspoon clone in the fact that she can't score but she can run a team and play defense. Nice but where is she gonna play with Becky around? The Liberty needed a scorer at the time and they could have drafted Tan White who was a good scoring guard that seemed to slip in that draft.
Tan White just dropped 20pts on them last night in a whippin that the Indiana Fever gave the Liberty.
Again this year they drafted another defensive minded point guard. Again WTF?
Another player who has all-star potential is Shameka Christon. She has been buried behind a one dementional set shooter in Crystal Robinson for like 3 years now. Its just a trend that the Liberty has had for years.
Tamika Whitmore is another player that was buried on the bench for years and is now doing great after NY traded her for no apparent reason. She also dropped 20pts on her old club last night.
Another thing is their obsession with getting a tall post player to play inside. They drafted a girl last year that had a good college career and was better than what the Lib had but never got playing time in Cathrine Kraayeveld. They are playing her now but not using her properly.
They also brought in 3 other girls around 6'5"....they are all basically the same player. The Liberty Coach has no clue how to play them. She has chicks on the bench outplaying the starters and refuses to make changes even after getting blown out by 30 in three straight games.
Knicks are bad but they don't have nothing on the Liberty. They tried to go with a youth movement and fill holes with random rejects from around the league and it has failed. It's not bad luck its just bad basketball decisions......They seem to live for making stupid and terrible basketball decisions.
Make jokes if you want but basketball is basketball....

My mother is a big Liberty fan, and she's not happy with how things are going. I go to games with her sometimes - you can actually afford to go to a Liberty game!
So far, I haven't been able to follow them closely. I'm usually pretty wrecked after the Knicks season, and need time to recover.
