Here's what fiba has to say about him:

With Pau Gasol out of action for EuroBasket, it was up to Jorge Garbajosa to carry the load for the Spanish national team. It is a role that the 206 cm power forward has perfected in recent seasons on the club scene.

Garbajosa is the type of player that rarely puts a foot wrong and his contribution to the team comes both at the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.

Statistically speaking, Garbajosa was the top European in the 2005 Euroleague with an index rating of 21.23. His efforts for Malaga were also recognised on the domestic front and he was selected as an All-ACB first team member (he led his side in scoring 14 ppg and rebounding 6.6 rpg).

At EuroBasket, a spectacular tournament from guard Juan Carlos Navarro (who averaged 25.2 ppg) took the spotlight away from what was another solid performance from Europe's top powere forward.

Garbajosa averaged 14.5 ppg and 7.8 rpg in Serbia & Montenegro.

our friends from spain - what's the deal with garbajosa? is he a good player?

why do i ask? b/c believe it or not, the raptors were my 2nd favorite team all of last season.

Wow, Raptors fans look sadistic.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

He is one of the best Spanish players obvioulsy, he is not a prospect nor a young player but a very solid player.
I personally don't like him very much, because he is a PF who CAN'T touch the paint and I hate that kind of PF's. He shoots the ball very well and is very intelligent player.
He is not very athletic, nor he is an awesome defender nor a great rebounder, to me he is just a solid player. Anyway, I think that, unless he plays some minutes at SF, he should not have a lot of playing time in Toronto, but being a very smart player may give him more opportunities.

From you description he sort of reminds me of Mehmet Okur before he played in Utah.

Yes, the only difference is size. Garbajosa is almost 6'9, and Okur is 6'11.
