Antonio McDyess had 17 and 17 in 32 minutes(despite shooting poorly from the line) and Kurt Thomas had 16 and 13 in 35 minutes(despite shooting poorly from the field). This tandom is going to be awsome this year if they stay healthy. With healthy Latrell Sprewell's and Allan Houston's this is going to be one solid team. I also think Clarence Weatherspoon will have a good year and Ward and Eisley will be able to hold the point for the time being. I think this will be an exciting team. Thoughts?

I didn't see the game, I was out for most of the night on a trip. However, from what I've heard, this PG they signed, Rich I believe his name, was relaly pushing the ball. I'm pumped to see the SA game, so I can see him, but if he continues to play well I'd hope he and James make the team.

I watched most of the game but didn't get to see Rich play. His one problem is he's undersized, but he can run and pass well. Scoring will be his one weakness besides size, but he might have a good shot to do something if he plays very well. I also like what i hear about the progress of Frank Williams. Hopefully he can get in there and turn some heads.

There are total 15 slots on the team, no?

So:

1st string:
PG - Ward
SG - Houston
SF - Sprewell
PF - McDyess
C - Thomas

2nd string:
PG - Eisley
SG - Anderson
SF - Spoon
PF - Harrington
C - Doleac

3rd string:
PG - Williams
SG - Postell
SF - ?
PF - ?
C - Knight

So, it's more likely James and Pope would make the team. There isn't a need for a 4th PG, no matter how well Rich plays. But, playing well could get him a shot at another team.

I have to believe that Pope will make the team, just for the fact that he is another big body. I am not sure if I would count Knight as a Center (kind of the same way Camby will never be a center), but his outside shot did look OK the other night.

Okay fellas, your all making me laugh ;). You all have been watching this team for how long now? Years i assume. Okay so last year was the worst year weve had in a long long time, and still the scrubs didnt play. Lets get this straight, None of these new guys are going to play unless massive injuries occur. I mean last year everyone was hurt and postell still had a tough time getting off the bench, what makes anyone think that a tim james, or a pope could come in here and get some playing time? Its not happening, that stuff always makes me laugh. Okay that being said, i think this team has a chance, a slim chance that it can surprise some people, i mean assuming the big 3 stay healthy, thats certainly going to help. They are still awfully small and these are mostly the same players that spent all last year complaining about not having enough height to win (sprewell led the pack). I dont buy into this chaney running thing, for the most part this is the same team that last year couldnt get up and down at all (nets destroyed them on the break last year). Jackson was the biggest liability so its good he's gone, but ward and eisley didnt exactly push the ball last year. And it doesnt matter anyway because when they do run, instead of going to the basket, sprewell and houston would rather stop and take a 15 footer, i just dont see this team changing all that much. The biggest thing is whether or not they can play even a semblance of defense. Last year the defense was pretty defenseless, i had never seen so many wide open 3's down the stretch that the knicks would give up, it was an absolute joke. mcdyess should draw alot of attention so that should help the offense, open up some space for houston and sprewell and lessen the impact of the point guard having to create to open up space for them. Other than that, im hoping something good happens for the team because it seems like everything has been going downhill since the mcdyess trade.

I think all those deficiencies (except height) were due to one thing: They gave up after JVG left. The belief and desire were gone, and they called in the rest of the season. I look for that to turn around if they start believing again.

Well, the point of the third string is not for games but for practice. The level of parity in practice increases the level of playing for games. But the reason I mention it is because I like to see guys bust their asses to get to the bench while some people who make millions could give a crap about winning a championship. I don't have any delusions about Pope being a secret weapon, trust me.

But, I must point out, when PJ Brown and Charlie Ward got into it '97 playoffs, and half our guys were suspended, Scott Brooks and Herb Williams had to play big minutes. It can happen. Of course, chances are you lose a lot of games that way ...

Again McDyess and Thomas made a strong showing for why they will be one of the best bigman tandoms in the east and maybe in the league. Thomas, while shooting poorly again from the field and only scoring two points, still managed to grab 10 boards in just 20 minutes. McDyess played just 17 minutes, but still dominated, scoring 13 points, grabbing 7 boards, and dishing out 3 assists, which is what we should see from him when he starts drawing double teams. Weatherspoon also had a strong game off the bench with 13 and 5. Our big guys are looking pretty decent right now.
