Posted by joec32033:Posted by BRIGGS: joe, i don't think people would be this upset about having eddy curry if we didn't pay a franchise pricetag for him...and what we gave up DOES matter. right now, he's a big risk. healthwise with the heart. conditioning wise since he's never been in shape. mental wise b/c he seems to space out on the court from time to time. there are ALOT of concerns. especially considering that the bulls weren't going to even play him this season. so we paid DEARLY for him. that's what bothers me so much. he's a nice potential piece. but that's all he is, potential. and those type of players are either drafted or signed cheaply. jermaine was obtained for dale davis. not dale davis and 2 #1's and 2 #2's and given $55 mil. and the problem is that throughout the course of the season, none of those concerns were alleviated. so all we have for him is hope. and if it doesn't work out, we're left watching the playoffs on tv and helping chicago become an elite team in the league. on the flip side, we drafted channing who's had a history of strong work ethic. a smart kid. and a hard worker. none of us have any fears about channing becoming a better player. in fact, many of us think he's going to be better than eddy...who was drafted higher and has been in the league for 5 years already. Posted by djsunyc:Posted by joec32033:Posted by BRIGGS: Understood, but you have to remember this was a Dale Davis that was averaging...10 pts, 9.8 rebounds, and 1.27 blks the season before the trade...http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/playerStats?categoryId=71406 Look at the reaction of some guys when this trade was made...http://bbs.clutchfans.net/archive/index.php/t-618.html And my point wasn't to defend the trade, it was to show that some guys take 4 or 5 years to develop....it took O'Neal 5 years and 2 teams. ~You can't run from who you are.~
