And Anudder Thing

If some people have been claiming the Knicks need more role players... "blue collar" guys...

... the kind of giys who don't mind doing the dirty work inside or outside

... wouldn't it stand to reason that Isiah can spot a moderately talented, inspired, young dude - who can fill such a specialized role - will be sitting at the 20 spot in the draft?

1. A LIVE body to get Eddy's back - 6'11 shot blocker extraodinaire Saer Sene

2. a legit outside threat (to compensate for Nate, Malik Rose and Jamal's subpar fg percentages until they improve) who can draw at least one defender away from the basket - Richard Roby

3. A 6'7 Summer League discovery - a flexible flyer to play the three spot (see Boris Diaw) with some flair until Qyntel Woods shows supreme dedication to improving his defensive footwork and rebounding positioning

I'm jus' sayin'

did youi really mean to say - until malik rose's fg percentage improves????

nate imo is going to be a great shooter. he hit 40% of his 3's as a rookie. of course he hit 41% overall, so he definitely needs work.

i think the knicks CNA pick up the right role players. the concern of course is that isaih is off his rocker with these jalen rose/steve francis screw up the roster, cap and available spots on the team kind of deals.

plus he and larry waging these battles for who's on the roster.

Lots COULD happen.

seems doubtful the way things are going.

no planning. no continuity among the major players.

While its true we need "role" players, we also need less "star" players who need the ball.

Especially in the backcourt.

Marv - Mailk's shots start to drop or until Hades freezes over, whichever comes first

If Isiah can deal Clarence Weatherspoon, he can deal Steve Francis.

No planning?

Nah, there IS planing. So far the executive staff remains the same so there IS continuity.... for today.

The rest I ain't worrying about until Summer League.

Nalod - I contend that if you fix the backcourt, you fix the Knicks

I concur with the Suns "hot potato" philosophy of ball handling.

That is one of the major reasons I like David Lee and Qyntel, both who are unselfish - sometimes to a fault. Jamals decisions with the ball improved in '06.

Eddy Curry demonstrated the ability to work with Fyre effectively.

Now, about that Starbury thing...

In my pea brain its real simple. Dump Marbury and Mo. T. Keep Brown.

Get an enforcer inside monster. Nothing too fancy.

Commit to 9 player rotation.

Let Larry do his thing and just chill.

Francis/Nate
Craw/Rookie PG
Curry/Butler
Frye/Kmart or Monster Free agent/rookie
Qdog/DLee

Rest of bench: Malik, Jail'in, Jerome.

Nalod - I'm witchoo

1. Craw/Drafted at 20 (Rudy Fernandez)
2. Francis/Nate
3. Qyntel Woods/ Summer League discovery
4. Frye/DLee
5. Curry/Butler/ (the second pick)
with fingers crossed that Saer Sene is still there

You are better with your wits. I am further questions.
1st question where is this monster free agent PF suppose to come from? Even if the Knicks were well below the salary cap what monster free agent PF or big man that you know is on the market?
2) What happens to Richardson?
3) You do nothing to improve your defense at your pg spot. Other than Nate, all the remaining pgs have been worst than Marbury and less effective at running the team offense unless you think Crawford 5 game stretch was inspiring.
4) Other than Q Woods where is your thriple threat?
5) K-Mart who in his career has never been a player who fits into a halfcourt system is going to learn how to post up under Larry Brown in one season?
6)Let Brown do his thing? Do you mean play more up tempo or half court. Press more in the backcourt to try and create turnovers? Will this team continue to crash the boards which does not allow this team or most teams to get back on transition defense?

the only thing fixing this is a new GM or if this one admits mistakes and changes philosophy. Since it looks like neither is happening expect more of the same. Who knows... maybe we get lucky. After all, we have had such a good streak of late.

its hard to fix it without a real star player-you can see the difference between pretenders and contenders--star power

mvp candidates on every team left and thats how it usually is every year

we dont have that

"Real" Star Power my butt Briggs

There are Kobe, Lebron and the aging Shaq. There are no franchise "stars" in the draft.

just curious BRIGGS, do you consider KG a real star player? i thought you were against the idea of giving up our young talent to make a run at him? am i off on this?

Hes a superstar, but he doesnt have an elite offensive package, which is what seperates him from guys like nowitski, duncan ewing, hakeem etc...

there is nothing on the knicks that makes me what to jump out of my pants in terms of what I could get KG. If I had a KG, I wouldve stayed on course with what they had going two years ago--but they decided to start paying hudsons hassells madsens etc.. I think they haev a little something going now that the have davis but they still are reasonably off. No number 1 offensive guy, no go to guy

arent you the same guy who said josh smith was nothing compared to david lee? how do you know there arent franchise talents in this draft? i know this, if we had pick 1 or 2 we would atleast have a credible chance to find out.

the knicks share the ball? you have guys who get assists, but that doesnt mean they're team players. we have to many guys who pound the ball into the ground, dont hustle back, cant stay in front of their manetc... we have way to much glut on this roster and thats why LB couldnt get a unit going because the roster is confusing and offers little in terms of cohesion and chemistry. Its a bunch of secondary[or worse] name players off of bad teams who make way to much money thrown together. Like I said--you could probably get better performance from a monkey throwing darts at a bunch of names and saved 300+mm in the process:>)

Briggs - a glut?

Isn't it the job of the coach to determine the best players and develop cohesion?

Then again, he could simply start guys based on their hometowns.

"It Can Be Fixed"?

I admire your optimism but this mess goes way beyond two role players and a "summer league discovery". There are problems everywhere, from identity, philosophy, owner, coach, GM, players... you name it.

Dolan has to go. Isiah has to go. Brown either commits on winning (I really question his intentions last season) or has to go. Most of our roster has to go, there is too much negativity there. I don't care if we don't contend for the next 2-4 years, but better start the real rebuilding from scratch than seeing this horrible act. Is this rebuilding? This is pathetic...
