This from Spree:

"Even with all this bull that they're putting me through I still want to be here," Sprewell told the Daily News last night. "That will never change."

How about what Spree is putting the Knicks organization through? Does this guy not realize he is getting paid to play basketball and all he has to do is show up on time and unhurt and give his all to something that I assume he loves to do?

Good point.

Normally, I'm a 'look-the-other-way' mentality, but in this case...(sigh)

All Spree had to do was APPEAR contrite, or even pretend that the injury just happened yesterday, then smile and hug everyone, tow the team/league/cablevision line, and meet up with the guys at camp.

But no...

I hope that they get over this one way or another...

Sniff, sniff....I smell a Spree-Iverson-Marbury deal approaching...

Its the Knicks that are wrong in this situation. Sprewell wasnt aware he was injured. he thought his finger was sore but didnt know he had a fracture. He didnt have to get surgery but the Knick doctor is the one who said surgery was better than waiting for it to heal. Sprewell even was lifting weights in the Knicks practice facility after the injury because he didnt know he broke it. Spree didnt hide anything now the Knicks are blaming him. Spree could have went without surgery but it was the Knick team doctor that said that he should.

This is not your average home-town pickup league, this is the NBA. Spree is contractually obligated to let the Knicks know about every injury he has. The dude is making millions to play ball and anything that will take away from that need to be brought up as soon as possible. All he had to do was pick up the phone.

Its easy to say that but in actuallity its not as easy as u think. SPrewell didnt think he was injured, why would he need to call the Knicks. Do you call your doctor everytime you hit your hand. I dont blame Spree because I did the same thing with my ankle. I didnt know I had a fracture and didnt find out till 6 months later when I did an Xray for something else. It would turn over real easy and i didnt know why.

I don't tell my employer every time I bang my hand, but I don't make 13 million a year either where my contract says I'm required to report all injuries, and where my preformance is directly related to my physical well being. This is a accumulation of alot of things that Spree has handled badly, and it is catching up to him.

...Not that I want to crucify Spree, either...I just lament his lack of people skills...

Even with the injury popping up out of nowhere, and the rumors of the brawl on the yacht (What do you guys think?...Also, did Iverson have a gun?)...Even with that, I believe he could have made the issue go away before he even met with Chaney and Layden.

But that would require the skills of 'phone-dialing' and 'speech'...This fire was in Latrell's power to extinguish before it even started, methinks...

For the record, if a trigger is pulled, I will accept only Marbury, Iverson, Finley, Penny, Payton.
