While all the chaos is going on at 2 Penn Plaza, I would not be surprised if the subtle volunteerism of Curry, along with the rehab of Frye - (and his conversation with boy Lee) have the Knicks players refocused on their off-season routines....

(Guarantee: all dialogue reported verbatum)

SFX: (cel phone tone)

Jamal: "who dis?"

Eddy: "it's yo' boy"

JC; "yo, where you at?"

EC: "in the gym mofo, have you been checking this ish out lately?"

JC: "hey, you know it's always gonna be sumpthin'... how the workouts comin'?"

EC: "feel pretty good, can't wait until July in Las Vegas... I heard DLee was thinkin' about comin' through"

JC: "that was a good move to show up early"

EC: "no biggie, you talked with Nate?"

JC: (laughing) "that crazy mofo is playing in The Rucker for Diddys squad..."

EC: (laughing) "you better watch yo boy before he hurts somebody..."

JC: "you talked with CFrye?"

EC: "not this week, but I'm gonna check him out to see how the leg is comin'"

JC: "tell him I said "yo",.. buzz me up when you head out..."

EC: "cool... you KNOW we can do this, right?..."

JC: "no doubt... out"

nice ebonics
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Lets hope some positives comes out of this and the players take the onus on themselves to be prepared and accountable...They got a full dose of drama this past season, let hope all the stuff is all behind them and now they can play ball...

Frye: "yo dude, let's show everyone we can play ball, and win, despite all the silliness..."

Lee: "I'm wid that"

Frye: "solid"

holfresh - Curry/ Jamal (Chicago) - Frye/Lee (best friends) Qyntel/ Jackie (both from the Memphis area) and Jamal /Nate (Seattle) all provide a ready-made base for 2006 Knicks team chemistry.

If this crew decides to cohere to an unselfish agenda, the Knicks will be a better not as a result of any front office shenanigans, but for a confluence of individual decisions based on friendship.

They will learn to tune out the noise and trust nothing but each other.

Channing Frye for captain

Bootleg POD

With sincere apologies to fwk00 - 10:34 PM ET May 18, 2006 (#32226 of 32227) NYTimes (I'm doing 34 disciplianary pushups at the moment)

let me remind all of you

Curry was a big risk, not a guarantee. Get off his back. If his comfort zone grows he'll be worth the trade, if not we gambled honorably and lost - BFD.

And all this vitriol about LB is profoundly unfair. He inherited a very sh@tty team that many of us hoped he could win with. He couldn't.

Nor did we deserve to win. LB is trying to mold a winner not ride an existing one. The losses were painful for everybody but we have an inventory of talent that LB and Isiah need to sort through and refresh. My faith resides in LB turning the franchise around.

Another lie is that Isiah assembled a winning team. He never said this nor implied it. Dolan, Isiah, and Brown all talked repeatedly about a four or five year transformation.

Isiah can no more win with this roster than Brown.

This franchise is on the right track and needs to hold firm to the current regiment. To give in to the rumors and innuendo would wholly dishonor the lot of them and I'm not believing the worst of these fellows.

Naw, I don't think it's that...earl has a good heart...defends and support the young players for the most part..he brings a mature and light hearted view to the scene on most occasions...

(fish.mike's "insert" segment is under review - but kinda funny nonetheless)

>>metra - Anyone else find this kinda degrading to the players?

metra - Degrading?

You mean "degraded" in the same way Larry Brown "degraded" his own players in the media so the stories would take on a life of their own?

Or "degraded" as in (and I liberally quote fwk00 here) when LB sez, "Marbury should have passed more." Marbury then gets confronted with, "LB said you F'd up." to which Marbury says, "Well, his stuff stinks too."

What exactly did you find degrading metra ?

You ever been in a real barber shop?

Personally, I'm pleased that Eddy is going to Vegas, DLee is still on the roster, Channing Frye is our floor leader-in-waiting and that holfresh understands it's only basketball

thank you for the kind words broski.

Everyone associated with the Knicks deserves to be degraded.

Allanfan20 - I'm so over the idea that so-called grown-azz men can't work out their individual agendas - I think I'm gunna degrade myself.

Let them play

I meant degrading as in that's how people assume the players talk. The style, not the substance.

Okay metra - just as Africans in The West Indies created patois to bend English language into a camouflaged code, one must also consider the fact that many African-Americans switch dialogue effortlessly to conform to their social envronment.

Since you requested it, here's the "other" side of the bi-lingual version.

(Guarantee: all dialogue reported verbatum)

SFX: (cel phone tone)

Jamal: "hello?"
Eddy: "Jamal, it's Edward"
JC; "good afternoon, did you receive my email?"
EC: "actually I didn't stop to check my messages, but I did read the Times online - looks like Isiah and Larry are struggling to define the direction of the roster"
JC: "didn't Herb tell you to tune out the distractions? I'm more concerned about how your cardio is improving these days"
EC: "still not satisfied, but I AM looking forward to catching up with Brittenham in Las Vegas... I understand David Lee is consdering Pete Newell's camp in Hawaii after the games are over"
JC: "that was an exemplary decision to make an appearance"
EC: "I expect someone will attempt to turn it into a negative, but I can't be worried about what anyone thinks, by the way... have you spoken with Nathaniel lately?"
JC: "He DID mention something about playing a charity event in Harlem in late July... "
EC: "please tell him to be careful with playing on asphalt..."
JC: "without question, what is the status of Channing's leg?"
EC: "it seems to be nearly 100 per cent healed but he's following his regimen carefully not to rush things, you know Channing..."
JC: "between the three of us, we can make a difference in next years team output... please send him my regards... and please, will you call when you are ready to leave the gymnasium?...?
EC: "absolutely, let's head over to Trader Vic's - I understand the wheatgrass/ginger juice is to die for..."
JC: "I'll drive...let's meet at precisely 1:45..."
JJ: "excuse me, are you gentlemen going to dine?"
