The Knicks are hoping to resolve the Brown matter before Monday's workouts to avoid a messy divorce. There are also whispers that Thomas may be having second thoughts about moving to the bench, which could potentially put him in the firing line. One theory is that Thomas wants to wait until after the playoffs to see which high-profile coaches become available. Coaching in New York can be fatal to even the best in the business. Since 1995, the Knicks have employed two other Hall of Fame coaches - Don Nelson and Lenny Wilkens - and those two lasted 59 and 81 games, respectively.
http://www.hoopshype.com

This is where his self preservation kicks in I guess.....He is in a no win situation. Dolan kicks him to coach, and he loses, he's gone. He volunteers to coach it looks like he set this up from the begining. He now is having second thoughts, which means he doubts if even he can coach this team to win.

And we thought it couldn't get any worse...now the GM(who stood by his roster so tough that the owner had to ditch the Hall of Fame coach) doesn't believe his roster can win. Wonderful.

if Isiah's too scared to coach the roster HE put together, he should be fired right along w/LB (not that he shouldn't be fired anyway)... here we go w/the coach merry go round again... oh joy.

OUt of the Tunnel and into the frying pan. 19k fans screaming for his name!

Smart move: Fire Isiah, let Larry run the whole show. Plead some kinda of fiscal compromise with roster changes.

and for god sakes, Be freaking cool!

2nd smart move. Remove Dolan from any day to day. Hire Russ Granik or Stu Jax (forget his first stint) from the league offices and seek secret counsel with Stean and Colangelo Sr. on proper moves to restore this thing.

Preach a fundamental change an patience with all marketing. It won't be that bad, this team jsut needs a few tweeks and a chance to build a self respecting attitude.

Hiring Isiah will prolong insecurity and makes us prone to panic moves.

Just dump Marbury!

I don't think Dolan is a Brown fan anymore. Interesting to note that Herb Williams is not mentioned as anyone replacement. I thought Dolan, Thomas and Brown said that he was the guy to replace Brown.

I guess they think he is a Larry lover by association.....

I don't think Herb is that big of a Brown fan either. Brown undermined him 1) to take the job (I guess dinner was great) 2) And that whole thing at the end of the season. Taking the clipboard and stepping in during the middle of the game (still funny when I remember it).

I said it was a smart move, not one Dolan would like.

Forget Marbury, your either a "larry Lover",

or a "dolan Lover"!

Isiah, Dolan and Marbury

Vs.

Larry.

Thats it in a nutshell.

Dolan should make Isiah coach. That's the only way this firing Brown makes sense. Time for Zeke to put up or shutup.

Once again I agree with Nalod - Firing Isiah, rather than Larry, might be a better way to get Dolan through the quagmire...Give LB one season with 'everything' he wants....I think we all know that when LB has what he wants, he wins - and we know Steph isn't the 'future' of the franchise, so we can live with rookie development under Brown next season. Start saving spare change for a FA in a few years, maybe?

what coach would want to come here after the way they treated lenny wilkens AND larry brown? basically they fired two hall of fame coaches after about one season despite the fact that there is a horrible roster, and now they're waiting for another name-brand coach to become available? isiah needs to become coach and needs to be fired as soon as possible so the roster can be completely overhauled.

UH BOTH LENNY AND LARRY LOST BIGTIME! Where is Lenny coaching now by the way? How come he hasn't surfaced in a top job. CUZ HE'S DONE! We've just watched Larry lose his fastball too. Like a Boxer that gets old all of a sudden, Larry is DONE! Its time for him to retire. Also Larry's work in the last few years has been questioned by more than just one NBA GM and Coach. He's a sad joke now. He blew the Olympics, was escorted out of Detroit and Now he's bitched his way out of here. Stop making it seem like he's so damn innocent. Look it was worth a shot to see if he could get it done, he failed miserably and looked lost doing it, so now he goes.

If they were to really go through with the dumb move of firing Brown, & Isiah were to coach. There should be someone else brought in to handle some of the gm duties.

I don't know how good a coach Isiah Thomas is. I do know he isn't as good as Larry Brown. We should just to the right/smart thing and keep Larry Brown. He actually wants to come back. Bring him back and put him in charge and we can start winning again.

One thing to keep in mind though. J'Oneal, Ron Artest, and Brad Miller all blew up under Isiah Thomas as coach.

The only thing I really disagree with is Lenny losing big time. He was .500 here, he was undone by one terrible month. Lenny might be finished though, he is over 70. Larry should not be done, he still has some bullets in his gun, but I really do wonder if he has not gone a little over the edge.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Now I can agree with you. Larry Brown is a great coach, did his tactics go over the edge? Yeah probably. I still don't think its a big deal of what he said in the press but I think its a bad idea for this organization to move forward without him. I would think Larry is itching to get back next year and prove that this past year was a fallacy. I'd rather go with Brown then anyone else. Were his tactics overdramatic? Yes they were, but at the same time I think this organization needed it with the players that are here.
