New York trades:
SF Latrell Sprewell (19.4 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 3.9 apg in 41.1 minutes)
PF Kurt Thomas (13.9 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 1.1 apg in 33.8 minutes)

New York receives:
SG Michael Finley (20.6 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 3.3 apg in 69 games)
C Evan Eschmeyer (2.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 0.3 apg in 31 games)
SF Adrian Griffin (7.2 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.8 apg in 58 games)
1st Round Pick

I based this trade on this report by Peter Vescey:

Not surprisingly, considering the Mavericks' depressing playoff performance against the Kings, Dallas is nervously searching for an available big man to augment its frontline. Obviously, in order to get, the Mavs must give, which is why Michael Finley (by all accounts, the only USA player who distinguished himself with and without the ball in Indianapolis) is the big bait, says a western conference GM. The push is on to also move Nick Van Exel, Avery Johnson and Evan Eschmeyer.

Line-up
C Michael Doleac
PF Antonio Mcdyess
SF Michael Finley
SG Allan Houston
PG Charlie Ward

Bench
SF Shandan Anderson
PF Othella Harrington
C Evan Eschmeyer
SF Tim James
PG Howard Eisley
PG Frank Williams
PF Clarence Weatherspoon

I know we're weak up front but with two number one picks and Milos Vujanic coming next season the knicks would have a solid future.

I want Finley but not for that trade. Knicks would be taking on some horrible contracts. Kurt Thomas looks in training camp like hes a lock for the all-star game along with McDyess. Sprewell value has dipped but not so much that with Kurt he can only land you Finley and some horrible contracts. If give them:

Sprewell + Harrington + 2003 1st Round Pick
for
Finley + Eschmyer

You can't trade Sprewell AND Thomas in a deal for just Finley. Harrington or Spoon in the deal would be good and i would do that, but not involving KT. That means a deal probably won't get done but so be it.

Spree + Harrington or Spoon definitely wouldn't get that deal done. Dallas needs big men downlow, not Sprewell, so Thomas is the main piece there.

Thomas's trade value is at an all-time high. With the first rounder, the Knicks would have 2 first rounders and 2 second rounders next year, and Griffin is a great defender. Eschmeyer gives them height, and they could still trade expiring contracts (Knight, Ward, Harrington) to get Stoudamire.

With Stoudamire and Finley, that'd change the whole perspective of the team.
PG-Stoudamire
SG-Houston
SF-Finley
PF-McDyess
C- Doleac
6th Man- Griffin
Bench: Williams, Eisley, Eschmeyer, James, Weatherspoon, Postell

The team would still have younger players (Finley, McDyess, Stoudamire all aren't 30 yet.), and with the abundance of draft picks, they could pick up a young stud and maybe pull an Indiana Pacers job and rebuild while staying competitive.

Finley is a better player then Spree, and will only improve. I'd do that trade in a second.

No I believe we should be asking you that question, "What have they done?", While I know they didn't have Popeye Jones last season but if you believe he has the same skills and work ethic of Thomas then what are you saying about your beloved knicks. All Im saying is now just might be the time to grab up Finley, he's young, energetic, and he's a Dream-Team caliber player. Getting him along with some size (Eshmeyer), some defense (Griffin), and some potential (1st round pick); For a power forward who shouldn't be playing center, no disrespect to kurt, and just an irresponsible player like Sprewell. Sprewell has done so much to the knicks it isn't funny, remember when he showed up late to the Charlotte game in which they lost horribly, or what about when he did it again against Miami the last game of the season, it's evident that Sprewell has his own agenda.

Or...what about those times when he put the Knicks on his back and willed them to win. Oh, you don't rememeber that do you?

The next week or so will have great impacts on a possible finely trade. Dallas signed michael redd to a $12 million offer sheet and now its up the bucks to match it. Unless dallas gets redd I have a very hard time seeing them trading for a sg who will miss a few games at the start of the season
ya cant stop me, you can only hope to contain me

The present is pre-season, and the future....well if he's not traded he'll drop 18-20 per game, guard his guy and Allen's guy, and be a big part of Chaney's fast-break offense.

LOL

Pie!

Ok, that's the funniest response to 'He's done' I've heard so far-
"I will dress in bright and cheery colors, and so throw my enemies into confusion."
