Anyone with a brain , realizes LB had one of the worst coaching performances in proffessional sports history. And lets say there is a large undercurrent of people who want him gone. LB may like money, but this right here is a huge blot on his resume' and I think he wants to be here and wants to correct it. He doesn't want his story in NY to end like this.
Lets say that the reports about Dolan are correct, and Dolan does want him gone.
BUT, what if LB had a private meeting with the players and the players in turn get together with Isiah to convince Dolan that:
1. The fanfare around being fired after 1 season has to be a humbling and humiliating experience for LB, even though nothing has actually happened yet and these are just rumors.
2. This experience for LB, has humbled him to the extent, that he is ready to give up the public bashing of his players, the lying about wanting certain players and then disowning them when they arrive, the lineups, the rotations, all of the feuding, complaining, etc., and just coach this team to the best of his abilty (the way we expected him to in the first place)
3. Isiah agrees to bring in a few defesive minded role players, rebounders, etc., but not Kenyons' 70 million and he is not trading half of the roster to appease LB. This roster will be more or less the same, maybe minus Steve Francis, but no drastic overhaul.
4. LB agrees to coach this team to win, to respect the players like men, to also demand respect as a man and a coach, and to move foward from what has been the ugliest chapter in everyone's basketball history.
5. The players agree to come into camp in great shape ready tand committed to winning.
This would have me excited about next year.
