The Day Patrick Ewing was traded.
A day many knick fans will remember as one of the most uninspired and idiotic move an organization make. Trading one of the top 50 players of all times for players that dont have half the credentials he has. A day in which many fans were scratching their heads and wondering what will happen to such an illustrious franchise.

Although Ewing publicly called for a trade, the knicks should not have granted his request. From a financial standpoint they wouldve saved money as he would come off the cap, however he was the same Ewing that took the blame for the bad and was praised for the good. The Knicks were a championship contender for many years and some may argue that if Jordan wasnt playing, Ewing would have had a ring.

From that point on this franchise has been a total joke....Isiah thomas hired was joke, Stephon Marbury has been a joke and James Dolan has been a joke

But this is prior to the jokes taking over....Isiah Thomas was praised for bringing Stephon Marbury...When the goal at the time was to cut salary. Dolan signed off as he mustve saw the dollar signs marbury wouldve racked in.

Sign of the times, Marbury's 1st home game as a Knick and the team gets blown out by a rockets squad coached by jeff van gundy...

than Isiah Thomas decides to trade Keith Van Horn for Tim Thomas...a deal which made the knicks more athletic, however the chemistry him and marbury were developing was obvious on the court, yet he gets shipped because of zekes mantra...."more atheletic"

Nazr mohammad was added to the mix, and he played pretty well, but he later was used for a trade involving 6'6 malik rose....

Point being this team is just completely lost, all hope is lost for knick fans and theres seems to be no light at the end of this nightmare

COnstant bickering by marbury, arguing with kurt thomas, Quentin Richardson and Larry Brown....yet he doesnt lead by example...he is far from a superstar, he now a supporting star

But the blame shouldnt all fall on Stephon....This whole debacle is brought to you by the Knicks Brass, the knicks management, the same fools we give money to just so they can spend wrecklessly for talent that will never mesh when most of the players are similar.

They expect us to support a team that underachieves, on paper has a lot of talent, than agian this could all be a video game, the knicks are actually a 88 on offense and 77 on defense in NBA 2k6...their also a 92 in NBA live, better than the pistons and the spurs. But, reality hits as we see, this isnt a game....the new york knicks lack continuity, moral support of team mates and lack any cohesion with the way the roster is constantly reconfigured.

Its a damn shame, that isiah still has a job, after a. adding money to inflate the cap to a level where losses are greater than wins. B. Anucha Sanders harrasment C. COnstantly lying to the dedicated fans of this franchise.

Its a damn shame James Dolan owns this team as he blindly signs off on deals that make no moral sense and only add negativity to the team

Its a damn shame Steve Mills actually hasnt said a word of distate regarding this entire situation, instead he;s nothing more than a cheerleader who just listens to ideals of Zeke and Dolan aka USed Car Salesmen.

Now ask the fans, what have they done to deserve this....NY fans are the most dedicated fans in the leauge, yet our the owner of the team treats the fans as 2nd class citizens.

The laughingstock of not only the NBA, but of all sports....The rangers, nets, devils, yankees all were or are in the playoffs. WHile the mets are 1st in their division as we speak...

Each night we watch games, we see flashes or potential of how good the knicks can be, but than we're back to the darkness.....

The jokes need to stop, because everyones being cheated....the franchise has been disenchanted for so long......

Its time for the fans to boycott the knicks..and hold Rallys @ MSG denouncing the entire KNicks organization....

The team may be a joke....but the fans arent laughing

''We don't have the luxury to take anybody lightly,'' New York's Quentin Richardson said. ''We're not that good.''

First begin your rant with some truth. Ewing was voted enemy # 1 in NY. Many Knick fans were public in their desire to see Ewing gone. Ewing was receiving boos on a constant basis. It was ashame but the only reason Ewing forced the trade was that he was tired of being used as a scapegoat. I agree with you, the fact of the matter is that the Knicks should have played hardball with Ewing denied his trade request forced him to play his final year even if it meant coming off the bench for Camby.

And putting the Rangers in your rant is just as bad as your Ewing stuff. The team made the playoffs after a 7 year absence. Dolan showed unbelievable blind faith in Sather despite all the calls for his firings. So if you are using them as your role model, I guess Thomas is guarantee to keep his job for atleast another 4 years.

And if you are really serious about your boycott, you better start staging sitins at those Fortune 500 companies that purchase Knick tickets at group rates. The true source of the Knick moneytree. Good luck though.

Ewing after 15 yrs was completly fed up with the fans, media and organization.

He demanded to be traded so Dave checketts former pres of knicks, out of respect granted Ewing his wish..

Knicks, if not traded would've taken it personal during the start of the new season.. It was best to sever ties.. If the capt wants out, you grant his wish..

It so funny how we were accustomed to seeing one of the greatest players of all times wearing a Knicks uniform.. You can see how much we really miss him..

The Future. GO KNICKS!

I don-no. Ewing was old, broken down and abused by Jordan with nothing to show except his personal stats. It was just time for him to leave.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I'm with woodman. because I loved Ewing i respected Checketts acquiescing to his trade request.

and the original trade for Rice, Vin Baker (before he fell to alcoholism and was still good) and draft picks would have been a good trade. But when Seattle backed out so Baker was left out of the deal, and the two first round picks were squandered, and rice was traded for the long contracts of Eisley and Anderson all conspired to make it a bad trade.

But Rice's contract only had like two years on it and if it were left to expire, plus the two first round picks were not bad value for the aged Ewing, and could have been beneficial if well utilized.
