Never really thought about this but Dolan and his execs may have a legit excuse to remove Brown.

League insiders told ESPN.com that the Knicks, looking at things from a practical and financial standpoint, feel they'd be best served to cut their losses with Brown rather than undergo the type of large scale roster overhaul that would be needed to placate him. In other words, why trade Stephon Marbury for less-than-star players whose contracts will carry huge luxury taxes, when they can simply buy out Brown for something in the area of $25 million and move on with a new coach.

I think it is up to Brown, he needs to understand the financial aspects of such deals that he wants. Interesting that Dolan is not taking Brown at his word that he is willing to come back and coach the team without significant changes.

if they gave him a 5 year contract, they should back him.

isiah was able to dump layden's entire "unmoveable" roster within 1 1/2 years. i don't want to hear that bullsh t.

"less-than-star players" - and therein lies the problem...

Remember what Brown said at the end of season press conference with Isiah. That he wouldn't trade Marbury if it meant taking back garbage. Maybe that Minn deal was real and the only real offer. I wonder if everyone was in agreement that trade wouldn't benefit the Knicks. It could all be a power play between Dolan and Brown to see who will blink first. Interesting that this story really start to take shape after the Kings job became vacant.

The only justice would be if Isiah is assigned coach and he dumps Marbury & company anyway.

In other words, why have a real plan to build towards a championship & follow through on it when you can simply make nonsensical move after nonsensical move while spinning your wheels in the mud in the hopes that the old "it's so crazy it just might work" theory finally pans out for you?
