York Post - The New York Bulls?

According to the New York Post, the Bulls and Knicks recently held trade discussions focusing on Ben Gordon.

New York has acquired young talents Jamal Crawford and Eddy Curry from Chicago the last two offseasons, the latter giving the Bulls the Knicks' unprotected lottery pick this year, a pick which is top-5 guaranteed and has the second best chance of becoming the first overall selection.

According to sources in Chicago and a source close to Gordon, the Knicks were interested in acquiring Gordon in exchange for, "one of the Knicks elite guards" and a No. 1 pick in next year's draft.

The New York Post yesterday reported that the Knicks are looking into buying out coach Larry Brown and replacing him with GM Isiah Thomas, so any talks are in limbo.

While Gordon is happy in Chicago, the New York Post states that the source in Chicago pointed out that Gordon is better suited to playing the point, and Kirk Hinrich seems entrenched as the starting point guard.

According to published reports the Bulls have out feelers to gauge interest in Gordon. [READ]

Were going to need a big PG then. Maybe Crawford, but he will have to defend.

I like Gordon, I like trading Steph or Francis, I don't like including the #1 unless we are talking about the Spurs pick this year and getting a second rounder back at least.

I don't see Gordon as a point. I like Gordon, but to me he and Nate have the same role. Isn't this one of these points where Isiah needs to think through the whole roster and not just make a move based on "assets?"

btw, i would gladly give up next year's #1 for Ben Gordon... that guy is an Assassin! him & Craw in the backcourt would give us a helluva 4th quarter tandem... but there's no way i can imagine they'd take back either Marbury or Francis' contract in any deal.

I agree, Maybe Q-Rich.. we agree to pay most of his salary for next yr, plus our #20 pick for Ben Gordon and Darius Songalia

id send pretty much any of our guards (id like to keep craw and im assuming chicago wouldnt want him back if they gave him to us in the first place) plus this years #20 pick to get gordon and any filler that they might need to send us if we give them francis or somebody. sure my going to uconn for all of gordons career there might be a bias but the kid can score and can be THE guy on a team, especially down the stretch. i havent seen how he plays defense for chicago, but im sure it cant be any worse than the guys we already have. and adding more young talented guys is certainly better than adding older more injury prone guys like k-mart.

this would make sense. We give the Bulls another draft pick, take back their worst defender, and add him to a team already full of scorers. So we would have Marbury/Francis, Crawford, Nate and Gordon. Yup.. I can see why Isiah would make this move.

dude, the #20 pick isn't what they're looking for... they're talking about the 2007 unprotected pick... & i would gladly give it up to get Ben Gordon.

but i thought the CBA doesn't allow for 1st round picks to be dealt in consecutive seasons by the same team? we already gave up our pick this year for Curry... i guess they could always do a draft & trade type deal, but that could only happen after the draft next year.

Im thinking of becoming a bulls fan. All our draft picks are going there and I can root for the players before they become Knicks.

I can't see any deal without Nate going.

This trade is comical. This team is comical.

no, they only have the right to swap picks... we would get their pick in that instance... but if they trade next year's pick, they get the pick regardless... but again, i don't think the Knicks can do it since they already traded the pick this year for Curry... so it'll have to be the 2008 pick, & i don't see why the Bulls would do that.

One of our elite guards? Are they talking about Boobury or Stevie Franchise? That means they would have to trade half their roster to make the contracts work. This ain't happening.

i think they're under the cap next year, no? they can absorb a contract theoretically, but i don't see why they would.
