jalen for webber + 2007 top 3 protected #1.

why?

saves philly $40 mil and allows them to dump iverson for eddie jones and puts them over $30 mil under the cap in 2007 (just one season).

why for us?

stopgap pf in webber but more importantly, recoup a #1 which will be in the lottery. (since chicago will probably exercise the swap).

I would do it if Webber understands this is the twilight of his career and he won't play a prominent or probably even starting role. let him be like the later day Divacs was to Sacramento, which was to share time with Brad Miller (in our case Curry, not to take time from Frye) and facilitate the offense via his passing from the post, and being a mentor to the kids. Webber for two years as our 7th man would be grand, as would the pick.

I'd start him so he doesn't becom sour. theres 30-35 mpg for between the 4 and 5 spots.

Remember Curry plays 30-35mpg TOPS next season.
And lets say Frye will be around the same.
That leaves between 26 - 36 minutes at the 4-5 which will be hihgly appropriate for him.
Curry will get into early foul trouble, JJ will....well, hes the big game, so you know you;'ve got to pencil in his 9 minutes per.

I think its very workable, but Jackie Butler has got to be worked in there too. Make the youngsters beat out C Webb. I think C webb is a great rol model for Frye too, he oculd learn alot about the game from him.

Oh boy, and how we'd hear about ill-defined roles, wrong style of play, rotation fluctuations, Frye and Butler being held back, etc, etc....

That's one of the worst ideas I've ever heard.

Kmart is twice the player Webber is at this point.

oh god.

so many bad posts in 1 thread.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

How many 30 point, 20 rebound games did Martin put up this year? How many in his career?

In the past Martin was better than Webber at 2 things: dunking and defense, and most of that is already gone with his knee trouble.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I would take Webber and Dalembert for expiring deals and Jerome James. If they want cap help that would save them $80mm plus

That 07' pick is already spoken for. We swap it with Chicago's if we pick higher than them.

Start gripeing.

I never complained about any of the young ones being held back. I complained about inconsistancy. The point of my post was that it could be done, and C WEBB brings 20 and 10 to the table, he is all over the boards, lets say with us hes 15 and 10, thats GREAT!

K-Mart never averaged 10 boards for a season in his life, C Webb is a far more productive player in many facets of the game.

Wheres Tomverve when you need him to post their PER stats

the point of the thread is being missed by some in this post.

what it gives us is a stopgap PF that can still play. which means no FIVE YEAR COMMITTMENT to kmart. but EVEN BIGGER, get a lottery pick for 2007. philly saves $40 mil on this deal at the expense of one pick. this gives them crazy flexibility to dump iverson for expiring and they can full reload in one year.

i don't want webber. but he's short term and if worse comes to worst, we buy him out the final year. only two year rental which doesn't affect our cap flexibility. and he's not awful. he can still ball a little bit.

Better solution to the problem.. Just let the expiring contracts run out and continue to build for the future..

Within 2 yrs, most of the big contracts will have been removed from the payroll then im sure the Knicks will get a great opportunity of landing a couple of premiere yound studs..

It is usually the best solution for trying to winning a championship..
