Magic, Michael And Charles To Own A Team Together?

Chicago Tribune - Magic Johnson envisions a situation in the future where he would purchase an NBA franchise with his friends Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley.

"If the right franchise became available, trust me, I'd make the calls," Johnson said.
"What better situation for us than to do it together?"

In this scenario, Jordan would run the basketball operations, while Magic would be in charge of the business side of things and Charles would be Charles.

"Charles could handle the sponsors and dealing with people," Johnson said in an off-the-air conversation while working as an analyst for TNT this week.

"And if we needed somebody to talk harsh to the team, he could do that."

"If I owned a team, I'd have to get somebody with Michael's skills to run the basketball side," Johnson said. "If he bought into a team, he would have to find somebody like me to make the company profitable. It would be the perfect marriage."

"What a message it would send," Johnson said.

"It would be unbelievable. I really think we can do it." [READ]

Magic has business advisors and not much business sense he has money and a name and that gets you every where in the world, Charles can't even master the english language, and Michael should we revist the wizards, he had Richard Hamilton traded for Stackhouse, and could have had Elton Brand but decided instead to draft Kwame Brown, Courtney Alexander?.....

Great players don't mean great GMs obviously, and frankly todays NBA is not like the league they played in where guys actually enjoy the game, want to win and take the sport seriously....

IF they or anyone wants to buy out Dolan be my guest! The three of them should put up the money if thats what they want

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I agree - except for the shot at Magic. What do you know about his business sense? He wasn't given the money and a name - he earned them. It's not that easy to maintain your name - ask marbs - and magic did it even with the taint of aids. There are many advisors who are anxious to "help" wealthy people - even picking the right ones takes a lot of business sense. I don't know what business decisions Magic makes (and I bet you don't either) but he has an estimated net worth of 800mil most of it made after he retired. I wish I had his lack of business sense.
