He missed both ft's it would put them up 3 instead they were up 1 and lost.

Not only that Lebron tapped him on his chest after the first miss, and said something to him after the 2nd miss. He looked really down and I felt bad for him. WOW!!! I wonder what he said?!?!?!?

rough for arenas. he carries those guys but then with the blown timeout last game and these blown free throws this game he ends up feeling like he shoulders the loss. he's pretty clutch when he doesn't have to think, but i'm not sure i want him doing my thinking in the clutch. he's a flow player.

i like caron butler, it would have been something if he hit that last shot.

oh well, someone had to lose.

arenas shoots the ball...ALOT. they may have to re-think their team and go with a philly 2001 type game. let gilbert shoot but surround him with defenders. they should trade jamison. he's a good scorer but totally in the flow of the offense. he has no go to moves.

Gorgeous shot at the end of regulation, though.

When he was on the line and they showed a close up I was thinking, man he has some long fingers for a guard. Then they pan back, and they're Lebron's hands all over him!

jamison is a role player. he could be a 6th man for all i care. butler is more impactful.

I said this before especially on realgm, that the style of ball arenas and Jamison play is just not one that wins, they take a ton of rushed, bad shots.... Arenas hit that big 3, but to me he is good at that, taking shots without thinking, but when he had to hit those FT's, he crumbled. I think arenas is a nice guy off the court and a very talented guy on the court, but his style of play to me is not one that wins in the playoffs...

layup was goaltending. you can't put your hand up through the hoop like that.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I think some here are over reacting on Gilbert. Arenas played a maginficent game, and that shot he hit at the end of regulation was just incredible. I was SHOCKED to see him miss those free-throws because he is usually ice from the line, but I'm not sure he choked. He seemed more surprised, but not defeated, after he missed those shots. Plus he did have calls go against him that may have affected things as well.

I think Arenas was, himself, shocked he missed the first FT because he is usually water from the line and in the clutch. His facial expressions he gave may have given that away, Lebron may have noticed and taken advantage, planting another mental seed.

The Wizards really are a good team, they just have flaws like most NBA teams, just not as many as the bad ones. Jamison plays well, but he is not enough to be a #2 scorer on a really good team and as someone else said, has no go to move. Butler did well also, but he's really a role player 3rd or 4th option type. Arenas is the star, and deservedly so, but they need someone else to help with the # 2 scoring, plus a post player, and maybe more importantly more consistent defense. I mean Lebron had too many easy layups a few times, and they just didn't seem to have a real inside presence other than Jefferies who's not even a center. Haywood does not control the middle, so they need (like MANY NBA teams) a physically imposing person to guard the paint. One wonders why they didn't use Etan Thomas a bit more because of defense, but maybe something else was going on.

Arenas being AI-Lite may also be an issue, but I'm not so sure he is guaranteed to be like that his whole career...yet. Anyway, it was a great game to watch regardless.

how about if we trade steph or francis to denver, k-mart goes to washington, and we get caron? i want players like him on the knicks, even though he won't be easy to get.

No matter what he did in the series, you just can't miss those two foul shots. It is unfathomable for a player so good.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

True, but that 3 to send it to OT was just so clutch and amazing and there never would have been those 2 free throws without it.

Love what Lebron said to Arenas, my respect for him grew two-fold after that.
"This is a very cautious situation that we're in. You have to be conservative in terms of using your assets and using them wisely. We're building for the future." - Zeke (I guess not protecting a first round pick is being conservative)
