thinking long-term...what happens to frye if we trade for kmart?

kmart has a long contract. he's also a guy that wants PT. granted, he may be injured so that can be monitored throughout the season, but when it counts, he'll want the minutes and we'll probably have to give it to him.

so where does that leave frye? is he projected to be a starter for us? will this type of deal impede him or be counterproductive, not only for him, but for us? or would this just be a case of swapping headache for headache and then "we'll work it out later"?

or do we immediately go back into the one player away mode in another year or two and then move frye for that "one player"?

Who knows how Larry will play them. The veteran will probably get every minute possible while Frye sits a lot more than last year (in which he still sat too much).

It depends on who is sitting at the Small forward.

Lets be real, as front court of Eddie and Frye is a bit soft. The finease thing can work and give teams fits. If you can work David lee in and he bangs you can go with those three. Lets assume that Kmarts knee really needed 18 mos to heal, and he can go pretty good, Id' start him but I want a shooter at the SF to open things up.

IN two years assuming Frye gets his defense together as I think he can grow into a decent enough player, then its his job.

Of course he likely gets traded before then.

I agree with what nalod said, in addition I would like to add, we would then trade frye, where he goes on to be a star somewhere else.... Typical NY trades....

I don't think Frye gets traded, with Curry unable to play 30 minutes a night and Kmart having knee issues I think it makes sense to have a healthy big who can play a lot of minutes. We need one more defensive big and let Lee play some PF as well as SF and the bigs situation would be fine.

wy does it have to be 1 or the other? There are plenty of minutes to have Martin Frye Curry see substantial floor time.

LB or whomever else isn't going to play 12 men forever.

Lee may get traded as part of the Steph deal

i agree, we can play all three plenty of minutes...but in another year or so, when/if frye is ready, what happens? kmart goes to bench? trade kmart? that can't happen b/c of his deal. this is all predicated on frye getting better and being able to start one day.

I agree with rv on this one. Trading for K Mart is illogical. It hampers the development of Frye AND Lee. What's the point? He's not even that young, he's absolutely not a difference maker. What's the point, if we're stuck in the ground. To me, the mistake was overpaying for both Curry and James last Summer, b/c that left a lot less flexibility to make some moves to improve at the C and PF position.

I want Curry to be traded for whatever we can get for him. I'd give him 'til October in case he showed he was serious and got in top shape.

what was the point of francis?

logic does not dictate the moves made over at 1 penn plaza.

dj, I have been trying to figure out the point of the Francis move, since there were rumors of him coming here. Every year, we seem to get in a worse position, than we were in the year before.

Ohh, and the Mo T trade looks worse and worse by the day.

it wont matter.

frye will still get 20+ MPG...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.
