two options:

trade #1: francis for battier + wright (s&t - 2 years/$14 mil) - we may have to throw in jackie
trade #2: francis for battier + cardinal + #1

memphis is about to get swept. they don't have another scorer. and to get francis, who can score and board, they have to give up battier. they already have miller to take that spot.

did wright lose his starting spot to tsakalidas? i really want battier on the team but I don't want to overpay for wright if he has fallen off.

You know.....I think Cardinal might be a good player to try and pick up. He is a work horse like Najara(sp?).

How about Steph and Jerome James for Cardinal and Eddie Jones?

Memphis needs a real center that will have Pau's back. Pau is getting beat up too much. Steph would just be in heaven with all the options he'd have......Mike Fratello is probably a good fit for him.

Battier is the exact player this team needs. Put him and Lowry in our starting lineup and we start playing like the Bulls and Lakers -- they bring the exact toughness and intangibles that used to define New York Knick basketball.

With that being said, I can't see Memphis trading him. Steph and JJ for Cardinal and Eddie Jones would be a huge trade for us -- tremendous addition by subtraction, we save a TON of money, and we bring in two guys that would be great in the locker room and would bring effort every night.

Realistically, there are many trades that would work with Memphis. If it includes Marbury, it can't be that bad. I like a bunch of their guys -- Battier, D Jones, Eddie Jones, M Miller, Cardinal -- I'll take any of them for the crap we have.

I feel you.

Cardinal sticks out with me. He was so good in Golden state and his last few years in Memphis before he got hurt. He just does alot of things well and he sweats it out.....he really gets after it.

Dantay Jones is another guy that could emerge but I think Memphis is counting on him to take Eddies spot eventually.

I like Shane and I like Mike M as well. Brian Cardinal = Malik Rose only white.

Nah Cardinal can shoot too. He hits 3s. Malik has never done that, but i definitely agree with the comparison. Look at his contract tho. WTF?!

lol.

theres a thread going on @ k4l like this one, except its more of a offseason plan if anything.

some food 4 thought is that Jerry West loves like practically every player on that team.

only problem is that they can't seem to get past the 1st round.

so Francis to Memphis for Miller or Battier + Cardinal is a slight possibility indeed....
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

DJ, Francis really would be an ideal option for Memphis this season.

They wouldnt have to give up the boat for him, and they'd be able to get rid of Cardinal's awful contract while holding onto EJ's expiring.

I agree that they'd wanna hold onto Battier over Miller b/c they already have enough shooters. Battier is an unspoken leader on that team and brings defense and intangibles. He may not show up in the box score, but Miller's more easily replaceable IMO.

Depends all on the direction West wants to go in.

I posted this 2 days ago, but Miller + Cardinal + Fut. 2nd for Francis + 29th Pick is an ideal trade for both teams.

Francis gives them exactly what West said they were lacking -- a penetrator and go-to-guy in the 4th quarter (he's 1 of the leaders in last second shots over the past couple years)

Miller gives us outside shooting and a premier 6th man. Cardinal is just to make the salaries even. Giving up the 29th probly convinces West to do it, and opens up another roster spot for us.

Along with that trade, I'd look for a Q-Rich/J. James for K-Mart trade. Why? B/c Martin's value is so low, they have no choice. But seriously, Richardson would fit in well with that team. He gives them outside shooting on the break, and can rebound well. Kiki was looking strongly at him a few seasons ago anyway...

I'd really hope we can sign Jared Jefferies with the MLE. B/c he'd be the ideal SF in LB's system.

If we can't get him (Washington will unfort. probly lock him up), then Darius is always an option.

And Eric Snow as a backup is always a possibility.

So there you go DJ.

Your move!

i'm convinced now that jeffries will get an MLE offer from multiple teams...so he will not pick the knicks and the circus atmosphere. i'm not sure who we'll target with that.

how's this for a freaky deaky summer:

cleveland trades larry hughes to denver for kmart
we then trade marbury to cleveland for eric snow and drew gooden (s&t)
then we move francis for battier/miller + cardinal
mo taylor goes to portland for theo + #1

Mo for Theo doesn't work.....IMO and I think this is something VERY doable, Jalen for Theo and the #1 where we draft Ty Thomas

i'm leaning towards memphis not trading eddie as they said he's the leader of the team.
i don't think portland trades that #1 unless we take zach off their hands in a salary dump.

Thing is Zach is not a leader, he is very much a follower. The minute they get rid of Miles, Zach becomes more coachable, IMO. I don't think Portland wants to get rid of Zach because him, Telfair, and Webster are a VERY solid foundation. They want to get rid of Miles, IMO. Now we are talking a deal like Miles, Ratliff, and the 1, which obviously doesn't balance out...We would have to look at including Lee, which would be ok by me if we ended getting Battier.

Miles, Ratliff, and the 1 for Rose, Lee and the 29.
