If Isiah can't swallow his pride and admit his mistakes, we need to get a new GM.

6 moves

1. Buy out big game - we can't move him without bringing an absurd contract back. He's awful on the court and worse in the locker room.
2. Marbury or Francis to Memphis for Eddie and D Jones - Save a bunch of money and get 2 guys with great attitudes that compete. D Jones may explode as a 2 way player under LB.
3. Buy out the other one - Neither Marbury nor Francis should be a Knick ever again - Change the culture on this team and bring in winners - Look at the Bulls and Lakers - they don't have half the talent we have but compete every night and play with balls.
4. Cut Jalen - See #3
5. Mo Taylor and Nate for Fisher, Foyle, and their first pick - ONLY IF LOWRY IS AVAILABLE AT 9 - make him a guarentee so he stays in the draft and make this deal contingent on whether he's available - he's exactly what we need - a floor general who plays both ways - pass first and suck a pesky defender - This is the type of player that LB turns into an allstar. We take back a bunch of money but Fisher will be a great vet pg to run this team while Lowry learns and Foyle will give us what Big Game should have.
6. Sign Jeffries with MLE - a long, defensive 3 is exactly what we need with Craw and Curry in the linepu.

New Lineup:

Fisher Lowry
Crawford Eddie Jones D Jones
Jeffries Q Rich
Lee Frye Rose
Curry Foyle Butler

That's a defensive unit that has some leadership and balls. That team makes the playoffs.

This is the plan for Isiah to SAVE himself? You don't think a GM would have to be fired immediately if he bought out all these players he brought in??

Yes, Larry and IT go to Dolan and plead to give them 1 more year to turn this thing around (both financially and wins/losses). Buying out players will save us some money in the long run.

Or

Larry goes to Dolan and convinces him this is the best plan. They both go to Isiah and tell him to get rid of all the crap on this team by whatever means necessary (trades, buying out) but under no circumstances bring in more crap. Or just hire a new GM who's willing to go this route.

won't buying out player's still count against us in the salary cap? if that was the case we should have bought out a decent amount of past players. that isn't going to help our situatuion. we can trade one or both. in the playoffs alone, i see teams who could use marbury or francis and will be willing to make trades (denver, memphis and when it is all said and done the clips). rose is probably our best trade bait that we are willing to part with for now. he will be valuable this summer to get the complementary players we need. cutting him would be dumb. one thing i realized is that anybody can be traded.

Yes, the one advantage, if it is one, is that it removes them from later becoming an expiring contract that might be used to take on a future bad contract. So you don't get immediate payroll relief but eventual relief.

But since expiring contracts have been isiah's primary means for talent acquisition I don't expect many buyouts.
